Hey guys, my car should be arriving here very soon (12 PBP hatch) and I am wondering if the bike rack I have in mind is going to fit with the hatch open?
Here's what i'm thinking....

I'll probably be going with the Whispbar roof rack and using two RockyMounts TieRod bike racks to carry bikes. I am wondering if there is clearance to open the hatch all the way without interfering with the bike trays?

Inno tire hold, no issues opening the hatch.

I think I'm finally qualified to post in this thread. Picked up a Thule 555 fairing on CL for $40 (BOOM!) from a chick who had no idea what she was selling. "Custom" attached it to my Subaru Aero bars, and mounted the Inno fork mount bike carrier.

Still needs some tweaking, and I plan on painting the straps black as well as possibly vinyl wrapping the fairing. It's good enough for now tho

I love my 555, and got it off the CL too! They're so sexy and clean up the lines so well. I don't understand the appeal of these snowboard looking fairings.

I have a question for all the 2008-2012 people using the OEM crossbars; anyone using some kind of clear vinyl or similar material to put under the footing? I recently removed the crossbars off my hatch and noticed a lot of little scuffs from debris rubbing between the feet.

I did not use anything. If they ever do come off, hopefully it wont be too horrible.

I did take off my snowsport carriers and noticed a +3mpg gain!

i saw some people using a clear bra strips cut out to the base's dimensions and placed underneath. sounds & looks like a great idea.

lol, don't worry I can tell. I appreciate the waxing...

I found the old 555 one and gonna put it on later this year...

I'm keeping the snowboard attachments lol. Broke my leg mountain biking in Cunningham and gonna go snowboard with my metal plate and screws next season.

Those of you tossing your bikes on the roof... how heavy are your bikes? I'd like to get a rack and throw mine up there, but it's a hybrid cruiser/MT bike and it's a little on the hefty side. Just curious.
