I just put Thule feet and load bars on my WRX. My brother had his old ski box lying around so I threw that on as well. I was custom paint matched to his old two tone Outback by the previous owner (green up top, greyish tan on the bottom). Got a kayak up there too on a Thule kayak rack.

Nice tastes in car and bikes, fellow tribe member here. (2011 575). Is that an Asr 5 C or aluminum?

Curious why so few use the actual OEM racks? Is it cost, or are they not all that great?

http://www.subarupartsoutlet.com/pro...oducts_id=5522

I'd only ever use it for bikes, on a 2009 Impreza 2.5i Sedan.

I'm not sure about the aftermarket ones, but when I worked at a dealership, the OEM ones were a giant PITA to get line up and screwed in on the newer (2008+) Imprezas and OBS.

include 2007 it was a pita

my new 04 wrx came from the dealership with the bars way too close i had to reverse my rocky mounts to fit. I will be adjusting them but still have to keep them reversed

I have the OEM bars on my 2011 and haven't had any fitment issues. They aren't as stiff as the Yakima or Thule bars but work pretty well for my bike. Plus I think they look better than the other aftermarket brands.

Agreed Jester, those look really clean, you get them from a dealer or order them online?

I went with a full Yakima setup. From what I understand is that the oem bars don't lock to the car. If I sell the car, I can move the Yakima rack to a different car. Additionally, from the various reviews I've read about Yakima attachments, they fit much better to Yakima round bars than factory bars.

i'll agree on the 08+ factory cross bars. The cleanest looking but the while the bars themselves say they're good for up to 175lbs, my 30ish lb Cannnondale uber-vee on a Rockymounts Tierod tray will do a little hula dance up there over biggers bumps from the front bar flexing a little (its rather un-nerving). And i have it mounted as far as possible to the passenger side against my fairing mount.

I bought them online for ~$140ish IIRC.

I will agree with blown ION, my Cannondale is ~27lbs and it does move around a bit. As far as Yakima fitment with the stock bars, I haven't had any issues with my Frontloader.
