i found my OEM subaru big powderhounds in like new condition for $70 off craigslist.

are these OEM aero racks quieter than the regular yakima crossbars? i bought a crossbar set and 2 fairings and sks locks all around and big powderhounds for 170 flat. which is a good deal used, compared to JUST the aero racks for 200 from subaru.

I got my Yakima basket like three months ago and I'm at the point where I'm about to just fabricate brackets just so I can mount my basket. Help.
Dimensions are 8 cm wide, 18cm round, ~2cm high. The brackets i have purchased before are far too small.

My stock crossbars were terrible with the LoadWarrior. Although the mounts that came with my ski racks did seem to work on them. I ended up getting a set of RailGrabs with 60" bars, cut the bars down to the size I actually needed, and sold the stock crossbars for a few $ instead.

Stock crossbars with the snowboard rack using the mounts that came with it. I believe some sort of the Mighty Mount kit:

Setup with Railgrab towers/bars and the rack:

EDIT: NVM, found a set of Yakima risers on Ebay for $20 shipped. Enjoy the pic anyway!

WOOT got my rack updated from my old OEM wagon rack that was slipping around to a variation of Krazy's method -

I could use a more effective fairing but I'm still happy. Way more secure, can open the back hatch almost all the way with kayak's loaded, and it make the car look so much different

^^^ Interesting to see how far aft the mounting points are in comparison to the current gen. I think my 13' has less than 8" of space between the windshield and front feet.

Nice setup. I have the same thing.

fun thing is, with this setup I had the choice of this close together or all the way to the back of the roof. This is pretty close to the same distance that the oem rails gave me and the greater distance wouldn't suite my current uses. If all I did was haul 18' touring kayaks then I probably would have gone with the greater distance.

OZ Supperleggra's 18x8 5x100 on Michelin Pilot Alpine 225/40R18. Next time I buy tires I'd go with a thicker sidewall. These are a little thin. I went with a 17x8 RPF1 on 235/40R17 for summer and have a much smoother ride.

What's been the best way to put a fairing on the stock aero bars for at 08+?

Inno med. fairing seems to be the normal. I bought mine used with a thule fairing and just used pipe clamps to attach it.

I bought a yakima and I knew it came with just the round bar mounts but I thought I'd be able to make that work until I actually got it and looked at it.
