I returned the Rocketbox Pro 12 because it was fish mouthing at freeway speeds. I replaced it with an Inno Box that's nine cubic feet. It's more narrow so I can also fit my high roller next to it. I really like the glossy black paint instead of the plastic look too. Sorry for the iPhone pic; I'll try to get some real pics up soon with some different angles.

Does anyone feel like the OEM Roof Rack for the 08+ STi is too high? I've only seen one picture of Yakima Whispbars on a 08+ Hatch, but it wasn't at a very good angle... Anyone have better profile shots?

Thanks!
Do you mean the crossbars? A roof rack is different than a crossbar.

If so:

I don't.

The main reason is the Yakima universal mighty mount.
You have to reach under the bar to tighten the mighty mounts. And it's tight enough as it is.

The rola roof rails on my MS3 are slightly lower profile than the OEM Subaru crossbars were on the '12 STi, and wow is it a pain in the ass. I don't ever remove the raptor aero rack for this very reason.

Ok, I've tried searching but can't seem to find the answer I need. I have a '13 STi sedan with OEM racks and I want to put a fairing on. I know INNO makes one that fits but I can't seem to find what size I would need from them, and then the couple pages I made it through on here, I saw a couple cars with Yakima fairings on oem racks. How do you fit a yakima fairing on an oem rack? TIA.

Yakima can be put on oem bars with hose clamps, directly screwed into bottom of bars and I've even had the privilege of seeing tape used.

A medium inno faring fits perfect and I will support the product 100%. Fits perfect, price is right, adjustable, no extra wind noise looks right on, and unique compared to everyday yakima users.

I have pictures of it on here somewhere with oem bars.

I bought the inno 40inch and the fairing itself is the right size, but they offered me a half priced item and in the wall of text I didn't see that it only came w/ clamps for a square bar. so I have to buy the full priced on as well in order to get the right clamps. sucks, but looks good

That's not so bad because you can sell the plastic fairing itself. Lots of people are looking for them go add a faring piece to their cargo basket, me included

Go to page 330. I posted my car with some yolo boards on it. IMO I am planning on getting a stronger rack system. OEM just doesn't seem to cut it.

Instead of reading through 213 pages and after vigorously searching to no avail, here goes:

i have a 2006 wrx wagon w/ rack and oem crossbars. i need to haul my kayak on top. i weighs 70lbs dry. i bought those floating swimming noodles and plan to cut them and attach them permanently to my crossbars since i don't plan to have anything else on my roof.

from there, i would directly strap down my kayak with two or kayak tie down straps over the kayak and through the bottom of each side of the oem roof rails, as evenly spaced as possible. my questions are: is this safe? will the kayak shift at hwy speeds? 75mph or so, for about 150 miles one way. should i tie the bow and stern to the frame with separate straps?

flame away. thanks.

Bought that basket that I posted about a couple of moths ago. Looks good works great for 79$

And just today picked up an Evo fork adapter and bolted it directly to my oem bars, rear tire of the bike fits perfectly on the back of the basket. And I just strap that down. Super solid and best 30$ bike rack ever.

I'd tie the bow/stern down just for the extra bit of safety.....other than that, should be good. When we lived in FL we tied the kayak in the same manner that you said plus bow/stern and never had any issues. We did the "X" over the top, bow, and stern and it was solid as a rock. Alternatively, if you use it frequently, I'd eat the cost and buy the kayak rack.....especially if I was doing a 300 mile round trip at highway speeds....well worth the money. We were driving maybe 60 miles on our set up.

Your first attempt failed. Please try again.

I can see that your URL isn't formed correctly; you have both "http://" and "https://" at the beginning, like this:

That's clearly wrong.

I like it how Subaru owners actually use their roof rack. Coming from the honda world most bought them just as a show mod or because it was the "in thing" to do.
