What were you running? I took mine off and saw all of 1MPG difference and that's a subaru bars and rigged yakima fairing set up. 5 MPG is a large difference, just curious.

I had the Yakima rail grabbers and 48" bars with a fairing. Went to an 08+ style rack set up where you bolt the feet to a bracket in the roof. Then when I'm not using the rack it's really quick to remove and only leave "fins" behind.

Hey guys. Ive got a 06 hatch with raised rails. I am concerned with the profile of the rack being too high on the roof. I was thinking of whispbars, but I really like the look of the fairing. Any thoughts? Cant find many pictures of cars with raised rails and racks..

^^ I'd love to run a LoadWarrior again but the hit I took in MPG was killing me. Looks good though.

Howdy all, I just put money down on a '14 SWP 5 door WRX. I'm looking into roof racks and am wondering how far apart the OEM crossbars are spaced?

I think that baskets look a little goofy when they're mounted on top of sedan/hatchback crossbars. I mounted my Yakima Basketcase between the Yakima crossbars on my EF Civic hatch so that they sit super low-profile and flush with the bars (here's an example).

Has anyone tried doing this on 08-13 OEM WRX bars? It doesn't look like Mighty Mounts (which I would need to attach the Basketcase to the factory crossbars) can be rotated down, and I'm not sure the OEM crossbars are the right length apart (Basketcase dimensions are 27" x 39.2").

Just wanted to say hello and see if anyone's used this setup. Thanks, I'm looking forward to driving my first AWD, turbocharged Japanese monster!

It was all a mock up. The wheel will be strapped around the bottom as well.

If I purchase the thule rapid podium feet, do I need to purchase the fit kit. This is going to be installed on a 13 wrx hatch. Thanks.

Won't matter much if he's rocking it upright like that. At velocity, a 30-ish lb wheel/tire combo will create some carnage as it's connective point forms a pendulum of torque on that poor basket, before becoming a missile. Good chance it'll rip it right off, or take the cross bars with it.

Lay it flat good sir, and be aware that in many states carrying gas like that will get you pulled over (even if empty, they'll do it just to check.) *edit - you're in alaska - carry on

I don't have any night pics handy, and unfortunately it does glare pretty bad. I'm still trying to figure out a plan to fix that while keeping it on top.

I've gone through a ton of posts, and can't find a picture of how the Basketcase attaches via mighty mounts to OEM whispbars. Any help would be super appreciated! I just got my basketcase and I want to put it on ASAP.

I do not envy you having to travel all those miles with that stuff up top.
I can't imagine it's the best for your MPG.
