Default How much have you guys paid for your 30K warranty?

I just got a SOA shop to get a price on a fog light and while doing so asked them how much a 30K warranty would be. They quoted me officially the most outrageous price I have ever been given. He said it would cost $941 because it is a 4wd, turbo charged car. He must of either had my information wrong, took my question wrong or thought that he was gonna take me for a ride. I could have sworn I saw a price on the desk for 350 or similar and I thought I have heard from people on this site that it has cost them around the $300 mark? Any thoughts or ideas?

I initially felt like telling the guy to stick the price up his *** but thought I better wait until my foglight arrives.

You want to extend the warranty to 80K, right?
The price is going to depend on how long you want to extend it, how much you want for a deductible and whether your vehicle is still under 3/36.

That price actually sounds cheap. I don't know where you read $350.00

$300?? nope... I agree with rexygirl, $941 is on the low side but within the average range. $1300-$1500 isn't unusual, but again, how long, how much coverage, and what deductible.

if you are talking up to 80k miles, think about how much could go wrong by then. chances are you are going to replace a turbo, so that is most if not all of the cost gone already!

You're actually only getting 20,000 miles more for that since the most expensive parts are covered up to 60,000 miles. If I have a major repair before my car hits 100,000 miles and isn't covered under the 5/60 warranty, Subaru loses a customer forever.

Is the extended warrenty an extension of the 3/36 or does it just give extra protection for powertrain stuff?

I got a 6 year/80000 mile warranty on my 06 STi, and I think it was 1300.00 and change. I'm now thinking about cashing it in ( I'm changing turbo's ).
I also understand I could transfer it to a service warranty, where all your normal services are covered for various lengths.

Post I think he's talking about 30K service?

If you're talking about 30K service, I've seen prices anywhere from $325 to 450.

I think you are getting warrant and service mixed up. The 30k mile service generally costs $300 - $350. I'm sure that's the price you were looking at on his desk and the price that you've read on here.

Yeah I cant figure out what the heck you are talking about!

If you are talking about 30k service then I can tell you it was around $450 for my STi.

If you are talking about extended warranty I dont understand why you would want that because your car is covered bumper-to-bumper for 36k miles so 30k wouldnt give you any extra coverage since it would be overlapped by 36k. Than again if you are referring to extending 30k beyond your 36k (bumper-to-bumper) or maybe 60k (power train) than you once again need to specify which coverage plan you want. They basically have 2 plans to choose from and different coverage periods for each. Depending on what you want the price will vary. All I can say is that I purchased the best plan they had for the longest period (I think it was called 'Gold' and its 100k or 7 years) for my STi and I got them to give it to me for $1500 out the door.

So once again you need to be clear on what your question is...

Sorry I was at work all day and this is by far the most responses I have ever gotten to a thread. What I meant was my 30k mi CHECK-UP. Not Warranty.

Well, first of all you are in the wrong section

Second, it can range fron $250.00 to $600.00. It all depends on what is being done at the service. You need to go to the maintenance forum and do a search for dealers in your area.

How can you have a major repair and not be covered after 5/60...
Cuz you said before your car hits 100,000.... don't you mean 60,000 miles?

He has unrealistic expectations that every single car will not have a major repair after 60,000 miles. And if Subaru doesn't goodwill the coverage up to 100K, he won't buy one again.

Well...I'm pretty sure Subaru sees him as more of a financial liability than an asset. If you want a car with a 100K warranty, either pay the extra money for the warranty up front, or buy a car that comes with one. Odds are, the Subaru won't need a major repair in that time period...but it could happen, and just cause you were unlucky, shouldn't be a sign that the manufacturer is crap.

really... because im reading my added security gold plus and Classic poster right here in my office that it says in bold letters "the only EXTENDED service contract backed by Subaru" but hey SOA might be wrong. they might want to send me a new one so my Service customers wont get confused.

every time i call 800.subaru3 to get auth on service they ask me how many miles does the car have i tell them xx they say its good until xx i better clear this up with my rep next time shes out here~!!

to make a long story short... it does Extend it

If I can remember correctly, there is a base charge of $900 I think... and that is due because at some point in the future the uppipe cat "will" break apart and kill your turbo. I can't really remember the final total... but I know it was over $1,300... I want to say 7year 100k... but it might have been 6 years...

Sorry... I just realized he's looking for the 30k service $... It's between 350-450 depends on where you go.
