Well Tig welding aluminum is a bit of and art more than a skill and when U have to tig two different qualitys of aluminun ( hardness-n-melting point ) U get blow through. The welds that are visable after the box was finished are all very-very nice.....that big bit of slop on the inside of the box is to hold the fliter tray in place, that spot aint too structuraly important either !!! But i guess the pic's are working now !!!

Yes.. TIG welding aluminum is probally my least favorite weld to do. I do like how it looks the most after the weld is finished.. if you do it right, very nice and clean. (besides titanium but that easy to weld imo). I do also agree the visible welds in the engine bay look alot nicer than the ones on the underside of the air box. Its a bitch to do it, and even more of a bitch to do it on some thin tubing.

meh. since the non "pretty" ones are inside the box I wasnt concerned with them. its the ones on the tubes I was carefull with. I'll tell you what. I'll give you a torch and some filler rod, a 90 degree angle with 2 different thicknesses and see how you make out . Not only that but also in 96 degree shop heat.
I agree. TIGing aluminum sucks anyway you look at it. Its sooooooo hard to get looking like everyone wishes "roll of dimes". When an aluminum weld is first done it lookes like poo. but when you either polish it up or paint it they look great. I do loooooooooove the way steel looks unfinished tho.
