Default Cant get AP to sync with PC. Need help!

I just got my AP and it did not come with the map I need. I am trying to get the computer to sync with it but I get the ox5b4 code. I have no other serial devices that could be in conflict with it. The AP never asks me if I want to go into "sync mode". I followed all instructions. Please help.

I have a HP Media Center just in case...

QUESTION: The AP has the stage2 91 octane map, but I need the 93 octane map. Can i flash the 91 map and run safely using 93 gas until I figure out how to sync the AP to my computer or would i hurt my car?

my car ran fine on a 91 map while i had 93 in it, is it hurting the car... unknown by this guy but it will run. as far as syncin it up. u need to plug in the AP to your USB port, open the mapmanager and go through the options until u find something that says either detect AP or USB/serial port. u need to make sure the computer knows what port to use to find the AP.

*UPDATE*
i just looked through my map manager. open the map manager, click on the access port scroll down menu, click on configure communications, plug the AP to the computer and put it in sync with PC mode, it should say on the AP "waiting for PC" then hit autodetect and the computer should find it. if itr doesnt, u need to use the scroll down box in that same window and go through all your com ports until u find which one the AP is on.

i hope this helps!

I'm having the same problem but I need the CA91 maps. I get the same error code on my computer and the AP goes straight to the "Choose the Map you want flashed into your car" screen. I tried everything I could to get the AP to sync but no luck so far except try it on a different computer because my comp doesn't have a serial port. So I used a serial to USB2.0 connection and updated the driver and so on....still no luck. I took every connection off my computer and even looked for the COM port the AP is using (and I did find the COM port it is using). Still no luck. Let me know if you have any luck because I'm still trying before I give Cobb a call.

The AP needs to be married to the car before it can be in sync with your PC. In the main screen there should be a way to just marry it to the car, or you can hold the arrow buttons down at the same time for about 10 sec and that should send you to the sync mode and allow you to sync to the PC. Hope this helps.

I didn't know the AP has to be married to the car first . On the main screen when you say there should be a way to just marry it to the car are you talking about scrolling down through the maps and choosing..."Married Stock Mod"? I'm assuming that's what you're talking about since it makes sense to me now. I didn't know what it was for when I first plugged it in. Tried holding down the arrow buttons and that didn't work so I'll try marrying the AP to the car with the "Married to Stock Mod" which I'm assuming is cut off and means "Mode". Thanks for the help. I'll try that when I get a chance. Good luck with your AP, Surfin.

Yeah i didnt see anything about it in the directions either so i looked on COBB's forums and found this (http://www.wrxforum.com/cgi-bin/ulti...=002434#000000) when i had the same problem. The arrow buttons worked for me. Looking back at it now Christian said to hold down the buttons while you plug it in. If that dont work try up up down down left right left right start select

I GOT IT TO WORK!!! I read the link Blue posted and didn't think to push the arrow buttons the same time you plug in the ac adapter into the AP. Before, I waited until the initialization screen was done then tried to hold down the arrow buttons because that's what I thought you meant Blue. I plugged in the ac and immediately held the arrow buttons and it automatically went into the "Waiting for PC" screen. Thanks Blue for your help. Good luck with your AP Surfin!
