Your intercooler sprays automatically without added electronics? I ask because that is news to me.

But if your intercooler is rigged to spray automatically then it may be triggered by boost. On a stock STi, you are hitting max boost around 4k, so that would make sense.

On the other hand, if this amount of spraying is new (not doing it previously) then something strange may be up. One other thing, I don't know why intercooler spraying would make the car feel sluggish.

You DO NOT have a boost or RPM sensitive IC water sprayer in your STI. The little yellow indicator you see on your instrument cluster is the low-level warning light for the IC's water sprayer reservoir.

That's the thing, it does not spray automatically. It will only spray when you push the button.

LMBOROTF! @ you. Sorry I needed a good laugh.

Spend a dollar at the local WinCo, or equivalent and buy a gallon of distilled water. The tank is located in the right rear of the trunk. Under a pop off cover. Real easy to top off.

The dash indicator is the equivalent of a low fuel light for the H2O tank. It was sloshing and that is why the light was going off at every gear change.
