Have a Nice Day? 6 week old Tribeca towed away

...and, no, we didn't miss a payment

I had not driven the car in 3 days (work from home) and went to use it last night. The fob wouldn't activate the door locks. Hmm. Open the door and no dome lights. Uhhh. Put the key in the ignition and got a dim dash display and no cranking.

Maybe I could have jumped it a drove it into the dealer.....but I wasn't going to do this for a $40k car with 1300 miles. Roadside asstance had a flat bed at my house in an hour.

I know that the car had been on the dealer lot for months and that the battery may be compromised from all the idle time. I'm waiting for a call.

Ouch! Good luck. Hopefully it is something that simple.

And it is good to hear how fast they responded to your issue.

Sounds like a dead battery. the puddle lights will quickly drain a battery if the door is ajar or maybe a dome light left on. Someone I know recently had a battery go dead in a a tribeca... and it was a dome light.

Something interesting about the B9 I was not aware of till my kid left the door open over night. The lights will turn off after a preset time (forget how long but it was tens of minutes) just so the battery will not drain. I came into the garage in the AM and the door was open and the lights were not on. I was like crap dead battery. I closed the door and the lights came on for a sec. Later I read in the SM how it will kill the lights to avoid battery drain.

Got it back today (was away all weekend) and they couldn't find anything. I did not get to talk to the service rep. but the RO indicates that they found normal draw on the battery, charged it up, and washed it. I'll keep my eye on it. Maybe it was a dome light or someother accessory. I do remember letting my son bounce around in it when parked.

PS- I think we paid $37k out the door, I can't recall. I know we got he car at invoice through IMBA
