Question So yesterday I gave my notice at my job

So yea yesterday I told the owner that i am leaving the company. I do personal lines insurance and I was offered something alot better for myself and more lucerative* in Hartford, CT. I didnt tell them exactly where i am going and what i am doing. Would you guys keep it to yourself or tell where you are going? Everyone keeps asking me what the job is and where it is at.I start on the 21st of this month....

Tell them you need to "go away for 3 to 5 years" even though you "still deny everything that little bitch said. "

That'll shut 'em up.

Do you have a reason for keeping it secret? Are you jumping to a rival agency for example?

Really, it's none of their business, most people ask because they're interested in learning if maybe they should consider it too (other than the owner - who may be interested to keep from losing other staff).

I won't be telling my employer where I'm going unless my supervisor is just curious and asks.

Consider it in the same boat as getting pulled over. Only speak when spoken to and only answer yes or no to as many questions as possible.

I'm sure people are just being friendly, making conversation ect. There is no problem with keeping it a secret, or with telling them.

If you tell, your boss will know where to find you when he wants you to come back for an eleventybillionpercent pay increase in 3-5 years.

i told them it has nothing to do with personal lines insurance which it doesnt. this one guy said straight out you have been here for a year and your leaving for a reason, why? im like UM its a better oppertunity. i hate to tell him that the scumbags we sell insurance to cancel and dont pay and in turn its taken out of our comissions. I just said its a better oppertunity i dont want to hurt this place more then its gonna hurt considering i have been the top producer for 10 straight months.

Just tell them that you're working for Nunya and move on.

Or, if you want to be creative, tell them that you will be going back to school and working as an apprentice making explosives. Also elude to the fact that your stay at the company was less than enjoyable. that'll get them thinking.

Yeah, it does't matter if you tell them or not.

When I gave my notice two months ago, I told them where I was going to go and what I was going to do. Of course, their counter offer convinced me to stay, but that's another story.
