wow is canadian $ worth more then ours or what theyr base impreza is the price of a WRX here atleast i found few for 23K 06 wrx

" And with a base price of $23,495, the Impreza 2.5i is good value considering its level of standard equipment. You won't find very many other AWD or 4WD vehicles priced under $30,000. ""

""2006 Subaru Imprezas come in four trim levels: a base 2.5i four-door sedan ($23,495), a 2.5i Sport Wagon (hatchback)($23,495), Outback Sport Wagon ($27,895), and the turbocharged WRX sedan ($35,495) and WRX Sport Wagon ($35,495). There's also the high performance 300-hp WRX STI model ($48,995""

wow! overly priced i guess its not bad when u spend 24K on a new rex versus canada~

prices don't convert that easily.... The pricing of the cars are based more on what the market will bear, rather than what the currency exchange rate is.

Canadian prices are definitely out of whack with the US on most cars. Buying a new STi in the US and bringing it up here, even after taxes, duties, fees, etc, saves you in the neighborhood of $6000 CDN after all conversions are done.

My uncle just bought a brand new C6 Vette convertible, at a US dealership, for $54,000. By the time he got it through customs and converted to CDN currency, he'd paid just under $70k CDN for it. In Canada, a BASE COUPE C6 Vette (keep in mind, convertible is more money than the coupe) lists for $69K CDN, before taxes and destination.

Why car companies do this to us? I have no idea.

I figure they haven't changed their prices now that the canadian $ is stronger.

Remember, a couple of years ago, you needed $1.50 canadian for $1 US. So back then, it was normal that a $30 USD car cost $45 k Canadian.

I guess if they lowered the price of cars in Canada it would screw everything up, as used cars would suddenly drop in value etc... Then, what if the Canadian dollar goes down again, will the bring the prices back up?

Paraskass, I think you're on to it there. I would expect it to come down in the future, as I don't see the Canadian dollar dropping much lower than it currently is for a while, and I'm actually expecting parity sometime next year.

By parity you mean 1$US = 1$Can ?

Yeah, I'd like it too, as the wife and I have some money in Canada we'd like to move over.
