I did. Buying the car was ok. Servicing is a different story. I thought the sales side was ok, but the servicing was total crap. After being fed up i went to centaur for service, which was marginally better.

Are you looking at buying another subie??? I guess 2 rally cars are better than one

Can't give you any input on calgary, but I've bought 2 cars and referred 2 friends to Tod and I find the sales side was excellent.

When I bought my 02 there, it was difficult to get them to sell me a car and impossible to get them to service it. David at Centaur service is brilliant to deal with - if you don't try an pull on over on him, he's great. Try and pull a fast on and you're done ... as it should be.

The warranty on my headgasket was denied at Subaru of Calgary because I had a RallyWest sticker and mudflaps. I haven't been back there since.

David is a very good guy. All I have is good things to say about him.

I've had no issues with Centaur. The purchase was a breeze as have been the services I've received since. Fast and friendly.

Asaweld, Rally has lost a lot of its good employees and I am sure that dealership is going to be liek most others within a few months.

When I was shopping I found the Centaur sales staff completely clueless. I'm pretty sure the guy I was talking to didn't know what a WRX was let alone an LGT. I found Lynn at SOC to be very good to deal with and new the cars...their service department leaves quite a bit to be desired though.

Thanks all for the replies.
I tried Centaur first - since that is where my wrx, my dad's wrx, my friends LGT, another buddies forester, etc. all came from.
They were very helpful - but could not find me a Forester XT - in manual - in black - with out a 2 month wait. - It was kinda weird.

Subaru of Calgary had 2 on the lot - the first tool . . . I mean salesman had no clue . . . didn't return my call . . . never got me the info I asked for . . etc.
I finally talked to the sales manager and suposedly he fired the guy over my dealing (it was the last straw according to him)

The manager guy was good and the deal took 4 minutes over the phone.
As for service . . . um . . . well I do that myself - next to the rally car.

Anyone going to Calgary early Thursday?

oh yea - I also tried Rally - just cause - 3 phone calls from me asking if they had or could get me the car I wanted - - - - them = not one single returned call.
Now that all the GOOD guys are gone - I think they will be done soon.

The parts and service dept. are now closed all weekend. :-(

I agree...my car has never been back to SOC for service since I bought it but I have had to buy a few parts there...gaskets and whatnot and it is always a hastle. Fred in parts is okay but other than that they are useless.

The guy that sold me my car at Centaur was marginal at best. Nice guy but not very knowledgeable. Did my own research and test drove my car about 3-4 times before I was 100% comfortable w/ my choice. Haven't had any problems with the servicing side - mind you I haven't had any major work done outside of oil changes and my 24,000km inspection. That being said, if you are looking to get major work done - I hear really good things about AllMakes Subaru in Calgary (near McCall Lake golf course - I believe).

The servicing was never an issue - I live in Edmonton and would never be taking it to Calgary for service.
Plus - I have 2 licenced mechanics on my rally service crew - and since we managed to strip and prep a WRX - doing an oil change on a Forester was never really in question.

Thanks for all the feed back.

I dealt with Lynn at SOC at first, she was okay. She refused to haggle with pricing initially, so I went through Carcostcanada.com for a bit of a discount (which they worked through with Lynn).

She doesn't really acknowledge me anymore... I had my 8000 oil change with them, nothing bad to say about, but nothing good either.

I talked to a ex-salesman of Subaru of Calgary... he said that Subaru of Calgary now has a new owner... and he isn't an honest guy, so he quit and now working for someone else... enough said.

Subaru of Calgary, especially the service dept can eat ass chips ass far as I am concerned. I got my car in 2000, stopped servicing it there in early 2001 said f*** you and your warranty and maintain my car myself. I am totally happy with my car now since they are out of the pic.

gotta go somewhere else now.

Well I guess once I pick up my car there I won't ever be returning!

I am hopefully picking it up on Thursday.
Already have a Cat back for it and am going to be putting my WRX suspension in it.
We debated taking all the tools in the truck and doing it all in the parking lot of the dealership - ala Rally service!

me - "Hi I am here to pick up my Forester"
SOC - "okay - it's right here . . . um what are those 2 guys doing with the jack and tools?"
me - "oh don't mind them - they're just my service crew - they go everywhere I drive"

:-)
