Unhappy Uh oh.. it's tax time.

Ok so I'm finally getting down and doing my taxes. I hope I get money back this year. ugh. If I've gotta pay I'll be superpissed.
Some stuff I noticed.

Health insurance ROCKS!!! I have receipts (and paystubs) showing that I've only spent like 800 on health care in 2000. I know there is a bit more that I didn't keep receipts for, but that's most of it. You may say 800!!! Outrageous. But before you do, consider that I had about $70,000 in bills. I consider myself downright lucky only having had paid $800.

It really is a pain keeping track of all this stuff.

I paid less interest on my house this year. way to go principle reductions!

I paid less taxes on my cars. In fact, I paid LOTS less this year. Last year - 750ish, this year about 300 (well that IS three cars). Woo hoo whatever that initiative was! 695?

Two Things:

You can't deduct medical expenses unless they are greater the 2% of your adjusted gross income

I don't think I would be so happy that you overpaid Uncle Sam $2600 and he got to hold onto it for a year for you interest free.

I filled turbotax on the web for the second year. This time it transfered all the info from last year. Took a total of 20 min to file and 3 days to get the refund direct deposit. Got half my turbo fund now !

That is, if you don't get killed in another war with Sadam.

About how long does it take for a tax return to come in once you've sent it? Sorry for a dumb question but this is the first time I've done taxes so I'm clueless.

Thanks

Unhappy

I still owe about $3000 so I'll file on 4/15, but then I'll also have to make the estimated tax payment for 2001 which is another $7500 so maybe I'll have a little left over if I sell my 98 GT by then. Of course after buying the WRX I'm looking at $32K in expenses in the next 45 days. Ah well, it beats losing it in the stock market. And even though "W" may save me some money, I still think he's going to screw up the environment and personal freedoms and make the world a less fun place to exist. Gas may be cheaper, but you may need to buy water and air!
