Question New User in Euless, TX - WRX to come soon.

hey guys, my name's Mike, and I'm in Euless. I don't have a WRX yet, but I can't stop thinking about buying one, so I'll probably have one soon.

I'm thinking about an '06 WRX TR, brand new.

What would you guys suggest when purchasing a WRX, is the '06 TR the best bang for the buck, or should I get an older model? I've done some reading on the different models, and it seems like the '06 has all the best features (except DriveByWire) - it has the bigger motor with more torque, and some other things that I've already forgotten

From what I understand, if I buy it brand new from Subaru of Dallas, they can upgrade it with an uppipe/downpipe/TBE and it will all be under warranty (what is what I NEED!). Do any of you know if the price of the upgrades can be added into the total purchase price, so that I can just add it to my monthly payments?

If it werent' for the fact that I think the '06 is the fastest, or most easily modd'able (more gains from the same mods, right?) WRX, I'd probably buy an '03 or something from CarMax, and save some money. Please give me your thoughts on this!

Thanks guys,
-- Mike, in Euless TX

06 with the 2.5 is better than all previous WRXs in the US

however, SoD can merely modify your car and include it in your financing, your monthly payments. Your mods are not covered under warranty... however, if you never break anything, then you have no claim against warranty, right?

typically with most lenders, you can't exceed TOO much of a percentage past the MSRP of the vehicle without some down payment. So if a car is 20,000 and they'll allow 15% above MSRP... the most you can finance is 23,000... get it?

What I mean is that, by having them install the downpipe, etc, on my new car, won't void my car's warranty, and if something breaks they will still replace it.

Speaking of that, how is Subaru of Dallas when it comes to replacing things under warranty, do they always say "you broke it due to 'enthusiastic driving'" or do they usually replace it?

Subaru of America doesn't really like anything on the exhaust besides a catback.

Merely having a DP on there wont "void" warranty.... but if you go break a component of your powertrain, then they can say you had done stuff that attibuted to breakage of their parts. Now, if the actual aftermarket part you put on your car fails for some reason... then you have to take up a claim against the manufacturer of that part.

SoD is very friendly when it comes to modifications... but they dont just "OK" everything. It depends on what you have done, what everyone's expectations are, and most importantly, your attitude.

I used to work there before I moved to Austin to sell more Subarus, I know how the company works... and they do it better than anyone else in DFW.

Thanks kevin, you've convinced me to buy from SoD.

I actually just got off the phone with a salesman from Teape in Hurst, I called and said "I'm thinking about buying a WRX soon, do you have a demo model I can test drive?"
he told me they'd had to pull my credit to even test drive one.

So I'll just wait till I'm ready to purchase and go to SoD to drive one.

*Edit* - Kevin, if I drive to you, could you get me a better deal than 23,900 on a TR?

*Edit 2* - 'clayton' from Teape in Hurst just called me back and said I could test drive an '04 WRX without pulling my credit. I then asked if the '04 model had the 2.0L or 2.5L engine, and he didn't know.
No thanks Teape.

I'll be buying within the next month or two, max, if you can make it worth my long drive down there I'll come get one from you

I want a black '06 TR

That said, is there any way for you to put in black leather seats from a higher model and just add the seat cost to the total price ? Also, can your dealership sell/install upgrades for me?

I can just add leather to your purchase and roll it into your payment.

you need to buy soon if you want an 06.... 07's should be here in 6-8 weeks.

we dont sell any mods currently, i just recommend everyone good quality parts and where to get them installed depending on what city they're in.

Doesn't that mean I should wait till then, so the cost of the '06's goes down ?

Maybe I should wait 6 months or so until I can find a good price on a used '06, what do you think?

Wow, Euless...I live in Euless too! In the apts on the corner of Fuller-wiser and Harwood. I'd post a pic but I'm so new I haven't posted enough to be allowed to post pictures.

I bought mine from SoD about five months ago and have bought most of my modds from them. Let me know if I can help with any questions, etc..

Also, before I bought my STi from SoD and talked with Kevin from Austin and almost bought one from them. It's sounds as if Kevin may be able to give a better deal on a new car. SoD can handle all of your mod needs as far as Cobb products are concerned. I installed the Cobb sway bars, DP and Stage 2 flash myself. It's not very hard if you have the tools and a garage. Anyway, the reason I decided to buy from SoD is because I decided to to buy a used 04 Sti rather than a new Sti and SoD made me a deal I couldn't refuse.

Silver_Rocket, do you have the COBB emblem on the back of your WRX, and is it debadged? I raced a silver one down harwood a few weeks back, if you can even call it a race

I want a WRX so bad, my zx2 is nearly paid off, I'll have a new '06 soon

Please don't when you have your new TR

Fly down to Austin w/ Southwest Airlines for like $50 then drive back w/ the new TR

The only thing I won't like is that the WRX will weigh 3200 LBS, and my ZX2 weighs 2400 LBS, I'm used to having a little lightweight car

+1 for Mr. Kevin Heist. then +1 for EDO Performance. Buy parts through EDO Performance and install them at Sideways Auto w/ David (M@stro) and you'll be set! I recommend Invidia catless downpipe with HKS Carbon Ti for the win!
