I believe there was some discussion on this or a similar Jensen HU recently. Search jensen in this category for more info. (But I agree that 'jensen != quality').

thats the dbldin unit. we sell them at my shop and let me tell you, they suck. only cool thing is the ipod control. other than that, they have terrible eq's, and not that great graphics

the jensen screens are pretty nice because they are made by audiovox. other than that they are a meh deck.

Jensen is not made by Audiovox. They come from the same supplier in China...and I know who...but they are NOT made by Audiovox.

Look wearily at brands like Jensen or Dual, even Sony's a bit iffy. Depending on what you're trying to get in a HU and your budget, you might be stuck with a more budget level brand. Just realize that the quality isn't fully there.

The sound quality, build quality, reliability, may or may not be there. As well, you may find small annoyances in functionality/fit and finish. The menu system may be hard to use, bottons may feel cheap or not work smoothly, CDs may skip quite easily, annoyances.

Before considering, if at all possible, demo the HU in a store. Look online for reviews/user comments. Try to get as much info as you can about the equipment you're considering.

Jensen HU's definitey != quality.

My first HU was a Jensen. The volume/track switching knob broke off...I had to use a pocket knife to change volume/tracks. It was horrible.

if you are running spl the head unit doesn't really matter, it just needs to work for 30 seconds. a signal generator pumping out 60hz would do just as much.

go to a SQ competition, you won't find a jensen. (at least not in the vehicles that place i should say...) Quality and durability on lower brands is very hit and miss, you might have a great unit, whereas someone else has one that breaks 2 months after installation. besides, if it IS made by audiovox, that doesn't change anything... those two brands are basically exactly equal as far as quality.

ohh i know in sq that deck wouldnt be used. but for that deck not to skip at 153 db is impressive to me. has had it for 2 years now and the motor still works and everything. now im not saying its a great deck but from tbe abuse he has put it thorugh it seems to handle it well. and i still dont understand his setup lol. he is running autotek m4000d amp, id chameleon comps, hooker 0ga wire everywhere, 1 irragi 300 amp alt, that jensen indash, autotek comp amp., and 4 re sx 10's. now how that jensen got in there i have no idea lol.
