Default Comparing OEM splitters

I figured I'd post this here, since it's directly relatad to IC cooling

my question is, are V7 V8 and USDM STI OEM intercooler splitters any different from each other?

Im pretty sure I'm right on this, but I might be wrong so if anyone trumps me, go with them.

V8 & USDM = Same, Same
V7= wider and thicker to fit the Ver 7 intercooler which is like 1" wider and thicker

Supposedly you need an 02/03 STi hoodscoop for the Ver 7 splitter to fit as it will not fit on the 04+ hoodscoops due to the shape of the spliiter not being compatible. I guess it will bolt up to 04+, but the splitter itself is too tall/too wide/too something and wont fit the internal shape of the 04+ scoops, either normal or STi.

my case is more sophisticated, as I will be putting a larger scoop on a GC and need to find proper splitter to go over V9 intercooler

I read on scoobynet, as someone w/GC installed V8 intercooler, larger scoop and went with V7 splitter, which is why I gave birth to this question. Either splitter will have to be modified to fit anyway, so it's the matter of finding a better one to aim the air into the IC, and it now makes sence why he went with V7 splitter

damm, I was hoping I could get away with USDM one, as it's much easier to find

noober questions, but I figured I'd ask here instead of PMs...just in case there's someone else who might find the answers useful as well:

- I thought that V7 and V8 ICs were the same? Unabomber, you group V8 and USDM ICs together, which leads me to believe that since V8 and USDM splitters are the same, then the IC sizes are the same as well?

-What is the size of the V7 IC core?

-Is there a way to tell from looking at the IC (or any identifying marks on it? if there are any) what version it is?

Thanks, I appreciate this. I'm looking at putting a bigger IC on the 9-2x, but not even sure what splitter it uses and what would work (scoop is different, but I think it may use the 02-03 splitter due to lower profile scoop).

well, technically all JDM STI intercoolers (V7+) are far superior flowing to USDM one, but V7 is the largest so far

my v7 JDM IC is visibly larger than any USDM STi IC that I have seen.....and the v7 splitter FITS on the '06 WRX hood/hoodscoop....with some gappage that can be easily fixed with some foam weatherstrip material
