Default 2005 2.5 RS vs. 2006 2.5i

I was so excited to come accross a fellow subaru, let alone a 2.5 RS. I am the owner of a 2.5i

Needless to say we gave it a go. First as we pulled onto a highway. I was behind him, but after the entry lane merged into the three lanes, we both floored it. I gained on him quite a bit in second gear, by third gear, I was catching up no contest and I passed him. By the end of third gear I was at least 5-7 cars ahead. I let off after that as to not exeed the speed limit for too long.

A couple of miles later, we both end up at a red light. The light turn greens and we both go. In first gear I take the lead by about a nose. In second gear, I gain a good 3/4 of a car on him, by end of 2nd, I'm about 1 to 1 1/2 cars ahead and in third I gain a good 10 cars.

I had no idea the 2.5i would outperform the 2.5 RS by so much.

Last time I raced another RS it was a 2000 or something, the 2 door coupe, and it blew my doors off.

Mind you I never go above 130 km/h when racing, and this is in a 100 km/h zone. (That's like going 78 in a 60 zone) and all of this happened at midnight with no cars around.

It was stock. So is mine.

It could have been an automatic... you never know. I guess that could explain the big difference in performance... Unfortunatly the guy didn't stop to talk, and I wasn't behind him at a stop light so I couldn't see if he had his foot on the brake at all time.

Maybe I will see the car again.

The only thing dumber than street racing, is street racing in slow cars.

2006 has variable lift... I guess that'd help?

When that happened you should of never raced again unless he had a swap and then why did you race him?

He didn't have a swap, although he had boltons (I could hear Intake and exhaust). I was told on another forum it's quite likely with those boltons he could kick my azz, considering he is lighter also.

To me, street racing is being stupid and taking risks on busy streets or highways when I can put other people's lives in danger while racing other cars far beyond the posted speed limit.

As I stated, the place where I raced has a posted limit of 100 KM/h. It was midnight and nobody was around.
When we were at the light, 100 km/h (60 mph) was the limit posted.

If I chose to go 0-60 as fast as I can, or want to, I did not break the law, although if a cop saw me do it vs another car he could claim street racing. Yet, I regulary do this when I'm on my own... is that also considered street racing?
