Default clutch problems!?

I have a 01 2.5rs and I needed a new clutch bad. So I got an ACT clutch kit, new pressure plate, disc and bearings. I dont have enough clutch expertise so i had a mechanic do it for me. He had my stock flywheel resurfaced lightly to remove a few hot spots. When I went to pick up my car, it shook violently and when I started to drive it the stering whell shook too. WTF? He was trying to tell me the pressure plate was out of balance, but I have never heard of that happening. Any one have any ideas?

Well it could be the fly wheel out of balance, considering he lightly resurfaced it.

Are you sure this just isnt a case of clutch shudder?? It can feel pretty violent at times.... Try to rev it just a little more when taking off, then see if it does it. It might just need to break in some....

I highly doubt your PP is off balance, if anything, like said before. It's his job on the flywheel machining!!

At first I thought it was just some shudder, but the vibration got worse when I started driving, reel bad between 18 and 28 hundred rpm, after 3 it mellowed out a bit. But I have never felt a car shake like that and the stering whell shake has me a bit nervous.

Take it back to the mechanic and ask him how he expects you to drive like that. That is just a lame excuse for crappy work.

Maybe the pressure plate is warped or out of balance, YA RIGHT! Even if it were he should have taken it for a test drive and realized that he can't give it back to you in that condition.

That is a bunch of bull. Take it back immediately.

does this happen when you just start-off from a stop, or happens when the clutch is fully out and driving?

If it happens when you're starting off then the clutch is just still new, it's really grabby and will do that. IF IT HAPPENS when you're fully off the clutch and in gear and shakes, then I'd take it back to them.

The flywheel SHOULD have a step on it. Where the disc comes in contact with the flywheel, that surface should be higher than the outside of the flywheel where the pressure plate bolts onto.

Not on an 01 rs sir. Not on any push type ej motors I've seen for that matter. They are single plane. The pull type(turbo) ej motors are dual plane.
