Default MAF sensor question

Can the MAF sensor read the same way if it is mounted facing the other direction(not sideways, but just facing the other way so the wiring harness goes over the top of the piping not around the bottom)?

Thanks in advance

Im not sure what you mean? is it going to flow backwards through the MAF? or is it going to sitting upside down? I dont think either way sounds like a good idea. Im pretty sure I read somewhere that it needs to sitting level, because it has somekinda dohicky inside.
