Default What I read in European newspaper re Subies

Just back from Finland where they tested the Tribeca which is just released in Finland at the price of 72000 Euro and up! Holy smokes, they plan to sell 150 Tribecas there, people must've made lots of money on their Nokia stocks!!!
Further the article states the future timeline of Subaru in Finland with a brand new, BMW 1-series like Impreza (and no sedan), released in fall of 2007. Subaru also coming out with a brand new Forester and a 2-liter, 4-cylinder boxerdiesel with 350 Nm of torque. All this in yesterdays paper that also had 2 full pages of Formula-1.

BMW 1-series
Audi A-3

Its fairly obvious that they are targeting a different market. To me the STI Limited's luxury style approach is Subaru's way of transitioning to that market.

Well if that is true about the diesel figure, that equates to a 150hp - 260ft-lb diesel engine. And if they can get at least 40mpg out of that, it should be both more than plenty of power with a decent bit of economy, something I think that would take well here in the states.

That should take care of the Impreza low end torque problem quite nicely.

Forgot to say the news about the diesel engine was for spring of 2008 and Forester was for sometime during 2008.

In Holland, Denmark, Norway and Finland cars are expensive. Like in the other countries of the European Union, V.A.T. is approx 18-20%, but in the above 4 there's an additional state tax of 20-40%.

So the difference between the Tribeca and the Porsches still remain relatively the same as in the US.
