Is there 40K on the RA gears and diff or 40K on the transmission case with new RA gears and diff? I'm interested and I'm just trying to clarify...

Thanks

THe case has 80,000 miles on it. I think that I have a little less than 40k on the gears/diff, but I cant find my invoice right now.

The gears and diff were installed by the dealer, Performance Subaru, here in NOLA. I was the first to have them install RA gears and the first to have a Cusco LSD installed as well. The only problem with the original install was that they didnt know that the Cusco FLSD had to be disassembled completely to install the axle shafts.

So they used automatic axle shafts instead, and that worked great untill I went to the Dragon last Oct when I noticed that the automatic axle shaft on the driver's side had poped out and began leaking.

Long story short. Found out that the original install was wrong and got the guy at the dealership to do a re-fresh on the seals and install the axle shafts properly.

Now it is all back together and ready to ship.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks,
chad

Thanks for teh vote of confidence, unloco187.

Steve, I dont know if you have met Tristan(slowscooby), Rob(Hamyrtime sp?), and I think Ken(Alazarin), but I let them all drive the car at a Dragon meet about a year ago, iirc.
They can tell you what it was like if they still remember, in case you need references.

how does the front diff respond/feel in auto-x/track days conditions? does it help with preventing understeer or oversteer? I have been doing a lot of research on differential recently and I got a pretty good idea on how they work, but am still a little confused on how the 1.5 way diff will react in tight turns and high speed turns...

I just corrected the first post. The diff is set to 1 way operation. However, it can be taken apart and readjusted for 1.5 way operation. This would involve removing the tranny, of course.

Just want to clarify.

And yes this is a great diff for auto-x and for minimizing understeer. A one way diff works on acceleration only, with no action on deceleration. Therefore it does not contribute to understeer while decelerating, and acts as though it is an open diff off power.
On power, the diff locks up when slipage occurs and helps turn the car into the turn. This is the coolest thing when you first experience it. To a point the harder you exit the more action of the diff and you feel like your are in a rut turning thru the corner.

Yes, the R160 has 80k on it also. Everything but the gears, diff, and axles have 80k.

I believe it is the Type RS, as that is what RalliSpec has listed on their site.
I ordered the gears and LSD from Dave.

I still have the box the diff came in as well.

If you're willing to part with it alone, is there any chance you could find out the exact model of the LSD?

THere is no chance of a part out, unless you want to fork out a LOT of money. It is an MZ just like the ones on RalliSpec's website, where you can order one if that is all you need.

The RallySaturn is for sale as well!

I need to get rid of it, since I am paying insurance on it and am not driving it.
I am asking $2200.00 OBO.
It has power windows and locks not to mention a proven track record on gravel!

I just blew first gear tonight. I could use this. I am just looking at what my options are but this would be great cuz it is local and already built.
