Default New diesel car achieved 350.092 mph at Bonneville today !!! (23rd August 2003)

what was it the honda F1 car managed? 400 kph, so like 250 mph? wowsers thats fast.

Yeah, but the F1 car can pull over 4g's and brake from 400kph to zero in no time... not a fair comparision...

Richard, Can you amagine if "tawnybill" had his direct water injection on those engines.
He emailed me and told me he streched the head bolts and blew the head gasket out on hes first test run!!

Direct water injection was suggested but could not take the risk of one nozzle blocking. The car has to be disassembled during shuipping to the USA so there might be a chance of some debris being introduced into the delivery hose.

The car could have gone faster if 6th gear is used, but decided to abandon for the time being until some tire maker offers a type that can stay in one piece over 350mph. The tires has to work very hard against the air pressure at those speeds.

The previous record of 760mph+ by Andy Green on the thrust SS used solid titanium wheels. As the car was propelled by jet engines, there is no need to use rubber on the tires.
