Default Bye, Bye STi

Deal is as good as done. Wolfe Subaru stepped up, did the right thing, and offered me a refund(less milage)...after 7 months. I had fun in it...8000 MILES in July alone. That one month of driving was almost worth the hassle.
Not in a hurry to get another vehicle, but if a nice 98-2001 RS comes up...I'll seriously consider it.

Nope...bought it used at a Subaru dealer. It was a US car. I later found out that it had been extensively modified and the dealer unmodded it, but missed a few things and sold it as stock, but the car had the engine warranty voided due to the previous mods. It had many engine, fuel and ECU issues, and its been several months now of trying to find a solution to the problems. Now we have a solution.

Could you post some details about the car so that prospective buyers
(like me) don't end up with it? thanks.

May I ask how much less you got for the "mileage"?

As for the guy asking about details of this car, this Blue STI has a long story. I was considering purchasing it a couple years ago (yes, it's been THAT long!). My gut instinct on first inspection said something wasn't right with that car. It had studded snow tires at the time, a bunch of bumper damage, and aftermarket front grille... when i was told it was "bone stock" I found that extremely hard to believe... it didn't make sense... somebody changes JUST the front grilled and tires and leaves everything else stock?

The car is a US car and therefore will not have heated seats, will probably have the adjustable headlight settings...but who knows, it's been a while.. it's possible all that could have been "corrected" by the dealer to make it look Canadian...

As it turns out, some guy on Nasioc (who can chime in if he so chooses) bought the car and owned it for a week... he ended up returning it after all the issues it had... and bought a new 05 STI in Silver... he then sold it to me this past March and I couldn't be happier with the car.

What's wrong with a 2001 RS?

The deed is done. The settlement was fair. It will likely be offered for sale again "as is".
It's not a really bad car, but the lack of engine/ powertrain warranty and voided extended warranty was a cause for concern. If it was offered at a reasonable price, it would be a great candidate for a Rockey Rally "Big Power" offer that is offered for an '04 STi. Hell, I may even buy it back.

Hmmm, I thought taking the car outside the US automatically voided the SOA warranty and any additional warranties purchased in the US.

additional warranties maybe, but not the SOA/SOC warranty. That's good throughout North America.

Good for you incontrol.
In parting this beast out, you made a few local Subie guys happy. Good luck with your future vehicle choice.

I miss it already. I had to get my girlfriend to drive me to work. It was either that or take the....BUS.
Vehicle choices: 98-01 2.5 RS: still a Subaru and I can take it to the track!
Mazda Protege 5: I always kinda liked these...and cheap enough.
Thanks for all the advice in the past.

skanky Wolfe's Subaru is at it again.
They have officially bypassed all other dealers as the worst dealer around. They should move to Scott road, or maybe Kingsway. Hell, I would buy a used Kia from a guy in a tweed suit before buying a car from them.

oh well, it's not any of our problems..... yet.
until the new owner signs up and posts about how his car has low compression and a CEL that just won't shut off.
