Question Photography guru's need your opinions

I want to get into photography. I have been using really really sucky small camera and want something better and I want to learn a little more about photography.

I am planning on buying

-D70s slr body
-Nikkor AF 3.3-5.6G 28-80mm lense
-Nikkor AF 4-5.6 70-300mm lense
-Battery and charger
-Camera bag
-USB cables
-Video Cables
-1GB memery card
-nikon binoculars

For $600

Is this a fair price for a camera that has been slightly used?

Thanks

Mike

For slightly used, that's pretty damn good. The normal D50 kit brand new costs $800 with a wide and telephoto. The only thing I'd be apprehensive about in that kit is that your wide angle isn't very wide at all. Thus, shooting indoors and/or in close quarters might prove a little challenging.

That's an awesome price. Everything there will be just fine if you're a beginner. As you shoot more, you'll figure out what equipment will suit you best.

Go for it, Mike. Then keep talking to Armin for what to get in the future.

Good start, but like Armin noted - the 28-80 isn't that wide. You may want to look at swapping that out later to something like the inexpensive Nikon AF-s 18-55mm. Good solid lens for usually less that $200 new or $100 used.
