Default NOt sure if I have upgraded clutch on 06 wrx??

I got my 06 used and just wanted to verify if I have an upgraded clutch or not. I went to gruppe-s and got some things installed and he asked me if I had an upgraded clutch. I was a little baffled because I didn't think I did. He said that it seems stiffer then normal and that I did have an upgraded clutch. When I firrst got the car, when I depressed the clutch pedal, I looked at the salesman and thought to myself, is there something wrong with the clutch, it felt really stiff. I just assumed that's how the stock clutch pedal felt, really heavy duty. So basically what I want to know is do I have an upgraded clutch considering it is so stiff or is that just how subbie clutches are made?

No, suby clutches are stiffer then most I have been in but if gruppe-s felt a different then it probubly is. I swaped to a stage 3 exedy and it was a HUGE difference and I was glad I played soccer at the time.

Try poping the little ruber cover at the top of your block underneth your intercooler (if you stil have a TMIC) and see if the flywheel has been swaped. If so then you can bet the clutch has too. I don't think you can see the clutch from that hole though. You could always pop the cover underneth the tranny, you could see the clutch then but the only sure fire way would be to seperate your engine and tranny and I would much rather assume its aftermarket and tell everyone that then go through all that to find out.

Haha, yea I don't think I have a light flywheel as I don't see any driveability issues. In fact, I don't think revs drop fast enough for me. AS for the clutch, I will just assume that it is upgraded!

There are no upgraded 06 clutches yet. ACT is supposed to come out with one any day now or maybe it's already out in say the last week or two. You = stock clutch.

Mine was heavy with stock components as well. However, I adjusted the clutch pedal since it was not traveling fully (not completely disengaging). Now my pedal sits lower and has a lower engagement point, but WOW is it soft. Even with the new stage 1 excedy clutch its softer than it was (this clutch is supposed to maintain stock pedal feel though)

Its an easy and cheap thing to try. But make sure your clutch goes fully to both ends (engaging and disengaging)
