Default Dealerships replacing WRX Rotors and Pads

This has been discussed before about the WRXs getting very wavy and grooved rotors due to this and that. Well, my car has 11K on it and I have noticed this problem since about 7K miles. My rotors are very etched with deep grooves. I finally got around to going to the dealership about it and had absolutely no problem with the dealership warrantying both the rotors and pads on the front wheels. It actually goes in Wed for the warranty work. Apparently they have had several WRX come in and have warrantied all of them.

Deleted the FYI for good luck..... (just in case)

no you won't (at least not most people). Check http://i-club.com/forums/showthread....hreadid=106978 and the link contained within (all 7+ pages) and you'll see that they didn't replace anyones. One guy posted just like you and SOA called his dealership and told them specifically NOT to fix his car. I have 4K on the clock and they aren't fixing anything.

The Feds will be notified.

Just called and confirmed my appt with my dealership. They verified that my pads and rotors are considered defective and will be replaced tomorrow morning.....SOOOOOO what are you talking about???? My dealership has made the call several times already saying that there is a warranty issue concerning the pads and rotors. My car is not the first one in to be worked on regarding this matter. I have HUGE grooves in my front rotors that under UDOT (Utah Dept of Transportation) says they are UNSAFE. It is a warranty issue. It is getting fixed.

what is with this Feds thing too????

The rotors on BAD WRX were replaced by the dealer at 2,700 miles before it hit the used-car lot.

WRX #1 (RIP) had VERY badly grooved rotors at 9,000 miles.

Common consensus is the stock pads are just a little too aggressive (big chunks of metal in them).

I've ordered the 4 pot calipers as now I have a new car, great time to install them (pad wear more even, don't have to deal with existing wear area on rotor).

It seems subaruparts.com is supplying just calipers, so the rotors must be the same as the 4 pots. Whaddyaknow.

Glenn

PS didn't get the Prodrive/Alcon setup because I want to run my 15" Raceline wheels for winter.

I was saying (if you read the thread that I linked to) that Many of us have noticed the same thing, but SOA officially isn't calling this a defect, nor is allowing this to be repaired under warranty in most cases. If you get it done, GREAT. I'm just saying that not everyone will (has been) so lucky. My dealership in particular told me that the rotor are supposed to be groved (what a bunch of Bull$hit). They refused to fix them.
