Default Calling all you slow WRX Sedans...

Did I get your attention? I hope so.

Okay all you WRX sedan drivers. We have yet to see a WRX sedan in any class at a Solo II event. This is YOUR chance to change that trend.

The next Rocky Mountain / Continental Divide SCCA Solo II event will be on Sunday, 18 November, at Worldpark Arena in Colorado Springs. You can get details at www.rmsolo.org

Never done autocross before? That's okay. This is a winter-series event, for fun only. You can check out the VERY helpful Newcomers' Guide here

Need tips for preparing your WRX for autocrossing? You can find them here

So, there you go. Anybody willing to come play with us wagon drivers?

-Joe

JDS,
Don't hold your breath, I've tried to get them to come out and play. No loss.

We don't have any winter AutoX events down here in siesta-land. I think I'll have to drive up to RMIC territory to get my fix before the spring season. I've got to work on Nov 18th, but I'll try to attend one of the following events.

Sarge:

Hey! Come on up. I've been thinking about trying to get down south for a few events next year. Seat time is a good thing. Keep an eye on http://www.rmsolo.org for the winter schedule. You can also register for events on-line and save yourself five bucks, to boot.

WRXLVR:

Why not bring the Talon out to play? Just 'cause it isn't a WRX doesn't mean you can't come drive it and have fun, right? Hell, I'm trying to convince my wife to bring her Sunfire out to play.

Unfortunately the talon is near death. It has 175,000 miles on it and uses oil like a WWF wrestler It's also slow. Not turbo, but gets great gas mileage still. It does have new tires and brakes though. HMMM. I better not.

If I blow up the Talon before mid january (when the rex comes in), I'll be walking and I hate exercise. If I hadn't sold my 2nd gen RX7, I'd be out there. Maybe I'll come watch and see if someone will let me ride along. I think my neighbor takes his '02 Audi out to the races.

You can ride with me if you like. I'm in the STS #12, black 98 RS with gold Speedlines. And I'm pretty sure you can ride in non-subies too.

Wow, quick response, guess that means you're not changing the clutch

I'll be at the final rally-x of the season on the 18th, trying to improve my standings. www.coloradorally.org

There is one WRX sedan that showed so far, but 2 WRX wagons have showed.

Dave, since I am on Gislaved 195/65x15 snow tires and have no autocross tires, maybe I should do the rally cross?

I have never done it before. What is involved in getting ready, numbers, picking a class, do I have to un-lower the car, etc...

Registration usually closes at about 8:00 AM. How long depends on how many cars and drivers show up. The last few events were getting upwards of 200 drivers, with cars running until 4:30 or 5:00 (or a little later).

If you show up and want a ride in a wagon with a pretty slow driver, come find me. Black WRX wagon, #10 GS on the side.

Regards,
Joe

I'll be there! I'll head back to Cincinnati shortly thereafter, but I'm planning on staying in the Springs long enough to attend.

Will this event be held rain or shine, or is it good weather only?

Oh, wait, you were asking for sedans, right? Sowwy.....

By the way, saw a yellow WRX sedan heading down Woodmen towards 25 earlier this afternoon. Tried to catch up, but the lights just weren't on my side.

Event held rain or shine, so pray for rain!

Snow, on the other hand, could bollix things up.

The event will be held rain or shine. Snow, however, much to us AWD owner's dismay, would cause the event to be cancelled.

Look for the Subaru group back and to your left after you come in the gates.

I think WRX sedan owners are afraid of getting their skirts wrinkled...

For rally-x you need to be at at least stock height so you don't make any oil pan modifications.
