Talking News from the SEMA Show!!!!

Well, I figured all of you would be interested in what I saw today at the SEMA show.

LOTS of WRX's and RSX's. XS Engineering seems to have a FMIC kit that's just enormous. You have to get rid of your foglites to fit it tho. TEIN has adjustable coilovers that are available with manual damping adjustments or electronic in car adjustments. The Wings West wing that Renick Subaru sells looks awesome in person! Unichip and XS are both here and showing big gains with dyno charts.

AutoMeter is here and is about to release both A-pillar pods and their really cool instrument cluster bezel that fits 2 1/16" gauges that fit in the corners of the gauge cluster. It'll be about $50 and be available in 4 weeks or so. Very slick. Saw the DEFI gauge hood, it's enormous. I'm not sure if I like it, but you can fit huge easily readable gauges in it at least.

Saw the whole big brakes stuff, I'll report more as I see it.

Is the instrument cluster bezel for the RS, the WRX, or both?

Sorry for being a newbie, but where will the SEMA be held at? Is it a national thing?

It's a big show that is held in Las Vegas every year. As far as I know, it's international, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Us West Coast guys have an annual event there every year. It is "open to the public" as long as you register the right way.

Talking I'll be there tomorrow!!!!!!!!

Alex's car is there somewhere.

As for struts for the WRX, they have the same attachment points as the GC8, so you can use any of those struts. Your car is just heavier, so you might need heavier springs to get the same feel as the previous model.

see all you west coast people friday for breakfast.

Blah... blah... blah... if i went to that show, i would ask AutoMeter what the hell their problem is and why they keep telling their vendors a 'couple' weeks when its been months

Default Not so much

I just got back last nite. There was lots of specualtion that the WRX would be the PT Cruiser of this years show. It wasn't. I would say the RSX was. I stormed the place the first day and although I didn't stop at every booth, there were some Subie parts there like 'DocWyte' said.

I didn't take many pics, no Subie stuff at least, since it's trade show, it's mostly booth diplays and too many people around to get a shot of the cars inside.

On the side, some vendor (oye there where a ton of wheel vendors) selling a 26" wheel if anyone ever gets some of those lift kits from down under.

No real WRX vendors there at all. Most of the WRX's were showing some generic product like wheels or something.

Didn't really take any pics, with the exception of the XS FMIC I didn't see anything of real note.

Couldn't tell ya why Autometer keeps pushing back their release date for the pods, but I'd be much happier buying one that fits properly and having to wait for it then getting something rushed. Autometer is a decent company, ie they won't release something till they're sure it's ready. Be patient, the instrument bezel kit will be sweet.

Nothing RS related, NO Suby vendors there at all! There's a huge hole there waiting to be filled by a reliable shop...

Bumped into Mike Welch of Road/Race Engineering, he told me a story about one of his customers who sheared all the teeth off of 1st gear on his WRX after just a few hard launches. The car was only very mildly modded as well. That's not good news... A tranny should be able to withstand a hard launch here and there.

the TEIN suspension was $1350 for all 4 for the GC6/8...and $160 for the front top adjustable camber mounts......and for the GD it was $1500 ......but both were 16 way adjustable.....
