Default Lots of STIs for sale - Brand New

Since being in the Bay Area (San Fran/San Jose California) for the past 3 weeks, I reluctantly hauled my car in for the 48k service ($700 USD) - switched to synthetic oil as well - it's like night and day.

Anyways to the point - I was told by the Service Manager there, that there was an "accidental order" of TOO MANY STIs literally 50 in the Bay area in the past week, so they are making BIG discounts to get rid of them.

I believe he told me that at their place (Carlsen Subaru), it was going for $33,000 USD - $37,000 CAD, and in San Jose (Stevens Creek Subaru (US's largest dealership), they had 15 blue ones going for $30k USD, which is $33k CAD. The PDI and freight is also much cheaper than Canada.

Interesting I thought...considering how much it costs in Vancouver.

It is an amazing price - it's cheaper than a WRX in Vancouver, which is where I got mine and still have..........

That doesn't seem to be much of a deal, considering the MSRP is $32,995US?!
At $30,000 at the other dealer, that's a decent deal. With California taxes and our taxes, it'd be under $40,000CAD. If I can get my hands on one of these, then maybe my 2002 will be up for sale again SiNzz!

Actually the retail price here, including some accessories which are not removable I was told, is 33,690. However, I was also told the 30k price there is still flexibility.

Service wise, Carlsen is the leader in the North Bay area. I prefer them over Don Docksteader actually - they had a state of the art service center, and a comprehensive readout on the car versus Don D. normally just provide the invoice.

That being said, I still prefer Don D. or North Shore (first choice) in Vancouver.

You think that's bad, I've been into subies since I was 13. I'm 18 now. lol. NASIOC is the only way I can get my subie love :P.

YeS.SiR: Found some good ones, but after checking insurance prices, work hours, and evaluating my priorities, I've found that I need to concentrate on doing good at SFU rather than being owned by a car with insurance, gas and maintenance as high as a WRX . Really dissapointed me, but there isn't another smart choice. My dad who also loves subies might buy a a wagon or something to replace his ancient rusty truck. If that happens, at least I'll get to drive that

There you have it, you can't say that NASIOC has not helped you with a head start at a successful academic career.

Actually, I was wrong earlier: at $30,000US + freight/PDI + California tax, 1.14 exchange rate, 13% GST/PST, and inspection fees ... it comes to about $45,000 Canadian. Don't know if there are any added duties at the border.

Still wondering where Girn26 can pick one up for $22,000US.

I think it's 6% duty on cars that weren't made in the US (or is it 4%, I forget now).

I think Grin26 is on crack or else he's talking about USED STi's...

You're right.
6.1% on the Impreza.
0% on the Legacy.
If you aren't a resident, no state tax.

So, $43,600 or so after everything. (1.14 conversion, since no bank is converting at buy-sell average of 1.12 right now).
If our dollar exploded so that I could pick one up around $40, I might bite.
Wonder if you could get a brand new cluster to swap in at the lot so that the odometer is in kilometres.

I'm trolling from the Western Canada region, but someone linked this thread over there and I thought I would put in my $0.02

I imported a 2006 US STi in May. Invoice price without options for a 2006 is $31,500 or so USD. On top of this you will need to pay:

RIV fee $195 plus GST
Duty of 6.1% on the STi (or any Impreza) on the converted Canadian price
$100 Excise tax
6% GST

In Alberta, we don't pay PST, but you will need to pay PST when you get your imported car registered in BC.

My thread on Beyond.ca about importing my car:

I bought a used 05 Legacy GT with 10k miles in the US for under $18,000US. After all expenses (flight to pick it up in SLC, RIV, inspections, GST) it came to about $22500 cdn. Now get this... Canadian Black book in the rough shape lists it at $26k can. but this car is in excellent shape which is $29can
