Default 30k Service and Warranty Issued...

I bought my 04 TS with 22k miles, its almost time for my 30k service. I had planned on doing the service myself, but then it was brought to my attention that this may void my warranty. I was wondering if anyone had any experience w/ warranty claims on a car which had not been serviced at Subaru, or not at an actual shop even.

TIA!

Doing the 30k yourself will not void your warranty. Infact not doing your 30k service period will not void your warranty. The only issue it raises is if something was done inccorectly by yourself and that caused the concern, there would be no warranty on that.

As long as you keep service records, Subaru can not deny a claim because "they" did not do the service.

yes save the receipt for all parts/filters/fluids and a log, or records from where you take the car. usually when people are asked to produce these records there are none.

Ditto this....not being able to provide records of regular maintenance and oil changes is reason enough to deny a warranty claim is the maintenance or lack thereof could have a bearing on a failure. It states this in the warranty manual that comes with the car, that it is the owner's responsibility to do all scheduled services and to maintain proof of the work. You can even go a step further and buy things like Subaru oil filters so that things like aftermarket parts are taken out of the loop.
