It can be done, but know that it will pulse like the factory horn alarm. Also know that the factory alarm can be easily disabled. I've been trying to find anybodys info on back-up batteries and powered alarms to piggyback onto the oem alarm. It seems most people are interested aftermarket, but I know it can be done.

Right, the OEM alarm output is pulsed. You would need to add a circuit that provides a constant output when the alarm is triggered to be able to use a siren.

Mulder, Any info on DEI stuff on the oem system? Back-up batteries, self contained back-up alarms, in dash mini sirens. I have all the above, but really have no idea where to start. Don't want to F things up and do a poor or incorrect job.

The OEM system can be modified/enhanced, but there is a limit to what you can do with off-the-shelf stuff. As I mentioned you can't directly add any type of siren because the alarm does not have the proper output to drive one, so you would have to make that.
However, if you get the wiring diagram you can find the power wiring for the alarm to add a battery backup and also the instant trigger input to add things like a hood pin or external sensors for motion etc.
