Default TMIC cooling fans?

I did some searching on this and didn't find anything, but I do apologize if this sort of thing has been covered. A link to a thread would be great if there is one, thanks! I'm a noob here and just as new to WRXs too.

I've read a bit about some of the different modifications used to cool the incoming air into the engine. I was planning on getting an upgraded TMIC for my WRX sometime soon but the otherday I noticed something that had me scratching my head.

I spilled a little oil on the block and after cleaning up as much as I could I took the car out for a spin. When I stopped I noticed a little vapor coming up out of the scoop. Obviously when the car isn't moving forward there is no forced airflow over the TMIC. Heat rising up from the compartment was drawing the vapors up. This is pretty elementary I know but has anyone mounted fans to the underside of the TMIC?

Wouldn't this work much in the way supplementary electric fans work to keep radiators cooler?

I was thinking one could construct some ductwork to keep the flow going out the bottom of the engine compartment and to shield it from the turbo, exhaust, trans, etc.

Thoughts? Am I whack? Is it not worth the trouble?

Thanks for any help!!!

Here's what I've done to combat IC heat soak...It's a little over the top... but it works great. As far as I'm concerened my top mount is as good as a front mount,... of the same size. There's three Albums, wrxdrvr, ICmod, & Info, with some pics of my mod path over 3 years. http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b111/wrxdrvr/

Its been done/discussed. Search for the keyword SPAL in the 2.0L forum and you should find the old threads. Another option is turbo wrap by Thermotec or DEI as the thing that heats your intercooler up the most is the turbo after all.
