i know what you mean about bush.

but really, they could have piloted all of the planes directly to the white house instead and we would have been rid of him.

i just finished watching the "secrets of 9/11".. holy shiat... i cant believe how many things the US did wrong... they knew planes were going to be crashed into the trade centers.. just no one had the imagination for it and thought it couldnt be done... also out of the 19 hi-jackers.. 16 of them should have never been boarded onto the planes.... how do SIXTEEN of these people board a plane with false, or problematic documents... oh and on a side note.. i stongly believe the pentage was not hit with a plane.. that was a missle.. but i could go about all of this forever.. so ill just stop here

I think saying that all terrorists should die is a pretty broad statement. How do you distinguish what a terrorist is? Is he someone that is extremely fast at the monkey bars? That's like saying all bad people should die. The problem is, who decides who is good and who is bad?
We've all seen the Fahrenheit 9/11's and the other conspiracy documentaries, so I have no idea what to believe. All I know is, a lot of innocent people lost their lives that day, father's and mother's of young children, brothers, sisters, aunt's and uncles. That is what gets me so choked, it was so needless. RIP to those that perished in the hijacked planes, the Pentagon, inside the two WTC towers, and to all the NYPD and FDNY that died doing what they did best. Also, to the innocent women, children and all the civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq that were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Not everyone in that region is a "terrorist." That day will not be forgotten.

Chris

Agreed.

It's hard to know what the "truth" is. I figure we won't know until we die and get to ask God or whoever "Hey dude...so what the **** was up with _________?"

The media, the internet; all to be taken with a huge grain of salt. A salt mini boulder if you will. So I'll stick to what I do know for sure, that a lot of innocent people died. I'll pray for them and their families, and I'll leave the speculation, theories and hypotheses, finger pointing and war making to others. I'm just not in a position where I can comfortably make judgement on who's to blame and who did what wrong.

RIP to all who died in 9/11.

Exactly what I was thinking. The "terrorists" only did to the US what the US has done (and continues to do) to them. I write "terrorist" because I bet there's alot of people that think of them as heros who died for a cause they believe in, much like american and canadian soldiers. The way I see it, if terrorism is a crime, then anyone who has used war/military action to solve their problem is guilty of this, regardless of which side of the conflict they are on.

i just can't fathom these extremists' total disregard for human life.

it's just like "oh let's make a statement today and blow up 60 people since my life is worthless anyway".

help me understand that mentality!

according to their imam, the jihadists are enjoying paradise with 7 virgins.
I watched an documentary on the rise of fanatical Islam (Wahabism) and it was very disturbing. More and more muslims are turning to this branch of the religion as they feel more and more oppressed living in the west (see riots in France and UK). Which begs the question, why migrate there in the first place?
Terrorists exists in many forms. the IRA, that nut Oklahoma guy, crazy Taoist groups, Tamil Tigers (according to India), fanatical Sikhs (Air India bomb) etc. It's the blatant disregard to innocent lives that define groups like these as terrorist. They can mask their acts with many political reasons, but taking it to your parents, your friends, sister/brother, neighbour... that fella who delivered your downpipe is to me a terrorist. If they have qualms with the government/country, wage a proper war.

The Bush administration has slaughtered far more innocent civilians in their 'war on terror' than the ones everyone calls the terrorists.

No one makes movies about that though.

i came from a country where a foreign imperialist country dictated their whims and it also made me angry and defiant. people took to the streets to protest but didn't wrap bombs around themselves to blow up women and children. now that makes me really, really sick!

funny thing is, muslims have been killing their own kind for decades in the 20th century. read about the rise of Nasser in Egypt and the birth of the Khomeini regime. Ask any immigrant Iranian in BC and they spit at the mention of the Ayahtollahs.
it's a sad cycle as mentioned above, these terrorists have nothing to lose. All their lives (an entire generation) have lived in constant tyranny. then the western came to preach their 'democracy' and took sides (due to the cold war era - Soviet helps warlord A, US sides warlord B). IMHO that's the worse, this just creates more rift amongst the citizens. eventually it led to the hatred to all things western. it will take a few generations for this to subside... if it ever.
Every human being wants peace and dignity. Ask any Afghani or Pelestinian, if he can operate a business successfully and able to provide food to his family, do you think he would think of strapping some bombs and run towards a Hummer or Isreali school bus?

Well put aspect, the thing with the movies is the directors try to get you involved with the protagonist's life and the level of pain that he would've gone through, leaving the viewers empathatic towards him/her and supporting their (seemingly justified) acts of revenge..

The difference here is that we don't exactly see the " terrorists' " reasons behind their actions, or know what they've been through. What we do see is generally filtered through the different stages it takes before publicating a piece of news or video- which leads many people to precieve a certain group of people as something closer to crazed animals then to human beings.

It's probably the same way they see the soldier's coming into their country...

Don't know if that made sense, anywho, anybody see the movie 'V for Vendetta'?

No way. Terrorists attack us because they're jealous of our freedom.

I agree with everything you said, especially what you wrote here. Too many people look at what the media presents and don't stop to think that there is another side to the coin, let alone what it looks like. If any of you get a chance, watch Syriana. It addresses alot of these issues, and part of the reason why these countries in the middle east may hate the US.

Exactly. I know a number of Iranians and Afganis, and they are some of the most level-headed, kindest people I have ever met. They just want to provide for their family, which is the most important thing to them. They don't aggree with the violence and hatred, but they represent just a part of their society. In any society you have trouble makers and those who are just ignorant who can all be manipulated by others. The only reason you don't see it so much in the west is because businessmen haven't found a way to make money off these unfortunates yet.

let's make it clear that no one said anything about races or nationalities being singled out here because that is prejudice.

let's be on topic and just be certain that taking the lives of innocent people because of certain ideological beliefs is wrong and should not be condoned by any group/state/human being.

Media is full of it. They present to the viewers what people want to hear.

Which is, the dirt.

Who wants to watch the news and listen to about all the good things happening in terrist actions, they want to hear the bad stuff, then blow it up.

Just my thought.
