Yeah, mine are 2 and 4, both girls, and usually ask or tell really..."go fast daddy" a short first or second gear pull keeps um sayin "that was fast daddy" for the entire car ride.

Lol...and you had asked about aggressive and the tune, honestly, I don't tune my car any other way but aggressive. Basically if the car will take it, I tune it that way. I am sitting at the 24psi for the 93 octane now, but I'm still running the stock map sensor, so I think thats my limit at the moment. I pretty much always have a laptop with me, so If the tune needs a change, I'll do it then. Usually end up making most of the changes at the track since the street tunes although they work at the track, always show there limits there...mostly small timing changes.

lol...lemme run man my kids are going bezerk, and the wife is giving me those stares...lol

Hey guys...been working on the tune a bit, and wanted to post a few things. First, I incorrectly stated the other day that I see full boost 24 psi at 3900rpm, while on that log, I did infact see full boost at 3900, I started that pull at just over 3000rpms, while I normally start at 2k. So the engine was already in a meatier part of the powerband and it hit 24psi at a few rpm over 3900. My first statement with spool in the 42-4300rpm range is correct, and what I am seeing consistantly starting a 3rd gear pull at 2k.

Another positive note would be that I have been able to run a good 2-3 degrees total timing between 5400 and redline over my stock location 2.5r set up. I guess that would be a given to guys who do this for a living, but myself being relatively new to tuning it wasn't. I'm guessing its an efficiency thing being the same boost levels between the 2 set ups, the 3076 rotated kit is providing a cooler charge at the same boost levels and allowing the extra timing.

Anyways, figured I'd update, and bump the thread. The track is opening back up this wednesday, so I'll have some numbers then, given the weather cooperates of course.

Just finished through this thread and wow, so much info. My gen3 outback just got its V7 transplant and I've been having a lot of fun since. The only time I ever pondered "what if I'd gone the 257/255 route" was when I was driving in peak hour, up a hill (an hour to go 5k's) with an engine crane in the back" - Had to slip the clutch til about 2-2.5 grand and gradually release. Every other time the EJ207 gets to 3 or 4 grand (and then 8!) so quickly it barely feels like theres no spool up time at all. Funnily enough, on my old EJ20G it felt like an eternity..

Are there any members who have the EJ207 and the Dom 3 with a C16 race gas tune? If so, what were your numbers? How much boost were you running?

great thread (i just found it). i'm pretty set on getting a v7 207 motor for my 02 wrx. i just have one question that i don't think has been answered yet....

i won't destroy my 5spd tranny with the 207 will i? i know how to drive pretty well and haven't had any drivetrain issues. when i pulled the tranny to replace my stock clutch (15k miles on the clutch), it barely had any wear around the outer edge of the disc.

advice please? thanks ahead of time.

should be ok if your not throwing a good turbo on, just take it easy, but eventualy if your pushing lots of power you will probably break something

Thats something that nobody can answer. I did it and never had an issue with the gearset itself. I broke everything else though.

I'm thinking about heading this direction. Found myself a v7 motor with v8 heads for a really good price. Now I just gotta talk myself into purchasing a motor.

i had my 5sp for close to 100k miles on the V7 before i sold it for a 6sp. nothing was wrong with it when it was pulled. If you shift smooth and dont' plan to shock your tranny with launches it should last quite a long time.

Some results for you guys to cehck out!

About the tranny, if your a big drag racer, you may tear up the tranny. I went though one clutch, one rear end, and about 220 drag strip passes before my 05s tranny lost second gear.

I've got a EJ207 V7 in my wagon and i love it. i'm hoping to get around 300awhp with a few extra mods at the moment.

What's on the car (that i remember):

JDM ECU
VF30 Turbo
STi 565 Pink Injectors
Catless 3" HKS downpipe
3" XR1 Borla Cat-Back
STi fuel pump
custom tune

The plans (for sure):
255 Walboro
External Wastegate
New Up pipe
New Tune

Possible Mods:

Bigger Injectors (not sure what size i'd bump to, or if it'd be overkill though)
FMIC or Bigger TMIC to keep sleeper status
Some sort of cold air intake

I love the power the car has in near stock form, so i can't wait to see what happens with some more power mods.

Here's a pic of my wagon:

It was asked already but not answered. What are the differences between a V7 ej207 and the 207 RA Spec-c? Why can the Spec-c rev to 8500?

Alex, I'd go for a tdo6 18g, and some 650cc injectors...that and about 20-22psi should land you right north of 300whp external gate or not.

Ver7 RA-C has bigger port heads and better cams than the regular 207 (although it's the same heads as the regular Ver 8 207). The RA-C also came with a silicon inlet, vf34 turbo, and different ecu. There was another version of the RA-C called the limited that had aircon and the regular intake/vf30, but still had the trick ECU and nicer heads.

Both versions can rev to 8,500, but I'm guessing that the RA-C would be better off due to the better heads.

Im currently running a v8 EJ207 with a VF39 and when i flashed the computer with a v7 map (280ps) last time i was on the dyno i put down 275ps to the wheels. after that i flashed it to a S202 map(320ps) havent been back to the dyno yet but i can tell that there is more power after the flash. next is 16g td05.
