I don't know what tuning program you would use, but I have a JDM version 7 ECU for sale if anyone is interested.

There was another version of the RA-C called the limited that had aircon and the regular intake/vf30, but still had the trick ECU and nicer heads.

Both versions can rev to 8,500, but I'm guessing that the RA-C would be better off due to the better heads.
Fixed.

And Subaru marks the redline at 8000rpms on Ej207's. Fuel cut is ~8250, and people round up to 8500. Thats why some times you hear about EJ207's revving higher than 8krpms.

No wiring necessary if you're replacing an EJ205, unless you want AVCS to work. IAperformance used to sell a wiring kit. I haven't heard from them in a long time, but I'd check there first. For AVCS, you will also need a V7 or V8 ECU, or a standalone like a Link, Autronic, Hydra*, AEM*, ViPec or Simtek to also get the AVCS working (All make a PnP EJ205/7 ECU). Otherwise you can use your regular WRX ECU flashed to run the larger injectors. Rev. 6b UTEC will also work on top of a WRX or V7/8 ECU. Earlier revisions don't.

*I'm not 100% positive they have AVCS mapping, but I'm pretty sure.

Less than ten posts up

#323.

Or Ebay (where I got mine, but I was lucky), or private FS ads, or a few other vendors. I think you should read about the swap a bit more before buying it. There is LOTS of info in the subaru conversions forum. It will give you a good idea of what all is involved.

Actually, as far as I've ever seen ALL regular Ver 7 STi engines had the same heads/cams. It was only the higher line cars that had the different heads. I've read the parts list for these cars and, unless my memory is already failing (which is happening more and more often), there was one part # for the regular Ver 7 cams, and another part # for the Spec-C.

The 8k redline is correct, as is fuel cut (what I consider to be the true redline since that's where forward momentum actually stops), but a lot of people will change where the fuel cut is to 8,500 when they get tuned. So it's not really rounding up, people just do it

I have a few questions about swapping in a v7/v8 into my 2004 wrx.

1. I read I was able to use my stock wiring harness with the v7 setup? Is this true with a v8 setup as well? Will my 04 wrx harness plug into the jdm ecu?

2. Additional wiring for the v7/v8 setup consists of the avcs harness, I read I am able to buy this from a vendor ready to plug and play, anyone used this?

3. How is the reliability with these two setups?

02-03 WRX front bulk head harness has 5 plugs for the ECU
04+ WRX front bulk head harness has 4 plugs for the ECU

you won't be able to use your 04 WRX harness for a Version 7 ECU but you will be able to use it for a Version 8.

when I did my swap I used this so that my AVCS system will work: http://www.iaperformance.com/product...oducts_id=2580

I think you need to do a lot more searching and research before doing anything since your questions states you know nothing about what you're getting into.

I have a 2004 WRX with a V9 swap. The harness works with V8-V9. It also works with V7.

Very reliable, unless its damaged when you get it (like mine).

So I have two conflicting answers now, it can and it can't.

Did you purchase yours from andre and the crew?

100% positive V7 to V9 (V9 Spec-C) will be a direct plug-in (with some mods for AVCS, neutral position...)

Got mine from JDM-Place in Toronto, terrible to deal with for warranty (ie, no warranty). Andre @ SwapShop is fantastic to deal with. He will confirm that the swap WILL work.
