turbo inlet is always a nice upgrade to help the vf37 flow as much as it can.

Sure wish I didn't have to deal with CA smog. Also not interested in swapping the ECU's everytime I get smogged

I already have a catless ebay downpipe for my wrx. I was thinking a twinscroll dump tube is required because with just the flange being welded it would be extremely difficult with the opening differences between the td04 and twinscroll exhaust sides

I was talking to Pete at Efi LOGICS and they have done a couple set-ups like that. It does take some massaging, but it's doable. and then you have a USDM length twinscroll dp. it's the route I'll be going soonish.

I guess it depends on the confidence/ability of the welder. I imagine some slitting and 'massaging' is required. Lmk how it turns out.

I can see that being an issue if your current eBay one is a "blank plate" design... like the stock USDM one. But if it's a "bellmouth", I'd like to think it'll flow fine. I lucked out and got a JDM Syms Racing DP with my swap, and just happen to have a JDM length midpipe from a parts trade! Those two hooked up nicely to my Prodrive oval-tip axleback... making for a fairly quiet setup under 4k RPM. Here's a pic of of the DP inlet:

I came across this discussion about twin scroll setups randomly. I'm wondering if anyone has tried the Kamak or Kinugawa twin scroll setup. I've been looking at the ones on www.steamspeed.com. I'm just curious since they seem to have such a good warranty and the pricing seems pretty good. Also, any suggestions on the downpipe solution I should try would be helpful. Thanks for all the good info so far!

I got a Tomei down pipe from eBay, $400 delivered, perfect fit, got excellent torque with it when tuned.

Hopefully around 290-300whp is attainable with a conservative tune
Get a 3 point electronic boost controller, you'll have full boost much earlier by about 500 rpm.

Oh no, my SRS DP is definitely a bellmouth. Its just that the flanges are so different, one being an oval(td04) and the other being shaped more like a house if you will(twinscroll). And because the twinscroll is larger, just the flange can be difficult to weld.

Post a link if you could, I could not find a USDM length one on ebay.

Ive decided that that is the way to go. Read through this thread, Clark said it was a waste on the stock twinscroll but so many people have said otherwise and boost came on so much quicker on my sti with it.

Meh, I spoke to that Clark dude when I was getting started on my swap, I went to EFI logics and got a real tune. Was spoken to with respect and no attitude. The tuner at EFI asked if I had a 3 point boost controller, I told him I had it but had not installed it. Immediately he said to install it and he'd have my car boosting much Quicker. Other than the turbo back exhaust I also installed a Perrin turbo inlet and a walbro fuel pump, kept the stock air box. The car feels awesome, well worth the real tune money.
The Tomei down pipe I got is Jdm length, I just modified my intermediate pipe to reach the down pipe joint, no big deal. It's also a donut style, I wanted to keep the factory like setup. I have a borla hush catback, it's a slip over pipe setup, was very easy to extend and adjust to fit properly.

I agree with you that welding a twin scroll flange on to a usdm style bellmouth is not going to end up just right, it'll be a hack job. I've seen a Cobb somebody here modified, it wasn't good.

Yep.. that's the one and only reason that I went with stimikey instead of Clark. Everytime I had a question he would be very rude and sometimes just completely ignore me. Also stimikey is now tuning for efi. I got his e-tune and my car feels great. Very happy with the results and he is a great person to work with! Only down side is no dyno numbers and we can't get the virtual dyno to work because it says there are missing columns. But we can't figure out why it won't read the columns.

send me the log from romraider and ill see if i can figure it out. i have had this problem in the past and figured it out. just will have to tinker with it..

agreed. Clark may be a wealth of knowledge but no one can say anything good about his attitude and customer service. I even contacted him via a different way so he wouldnt know it was me and came to the same point that basically I had no idea what I was talking about and my car will never run right how i tune. w/ 20 local subaru's running my tune and no complaints I can conclude I must be doing something right

stimikey and phatron are a very helpful and put out great tunes. both of which have given me free advice on how to improve my tune or how little they would change if I had them modify my current tune via etuning.

Nope. The only problem I have IA with my JDM instrument cluster the cruise light doesn't turn on but it will still function.

Does your v9 throttle body have hook-up for the cruise cable? It works fine on my v8 swap, as the TB is identical to the WRX.
