^^ I second that. I have pictures of a rod that snapped right under the wrist pin i'll post pictures here in a bit for anyone that wants to see. And this was out of a bone stock 205 with about 83,000 miles on it turned up the boost with a MBC and tuned it for 18psi and it spiked on the highway to 25psi and blew up.

Anything from 15 to 30 psi was run on that motor. Plus I ran a 70whp shot of nitrous.

I see full pump gas boost (27psi) on my 2.0 and 35R combo @ 4500-4700 rpms... thats a 4th gear highway pull.

Figure something smaller, like a 30 and your definitely getting close to 4000 rpms.

The 207 is a beast. I love it. Stock or built, they take one helluva beating... trust me

My stock one went 11.2 @ 127.7. I over-revved it a couple times, somewhere around 11,000 rpms. I did ever so slightly bend 3 valves... BUT, I ran the 11.2 that way... sooo

I built my 207 kinda on a whim. I didn't need to. I just started taking things apart... trying to find a drivetrain related issue... and the next thing I knew the motor was out and the heads were off...

doug in your opinion what should i do to be able to get full boost around 4000-4200 and keep it all the way to 7500 (maybe 1psi drop for safety). i wanna be able to hold the power instead of seeing it drop as with 75% of subaru builds/tunes. i was thinking v7 longblock with a 264 cam GT3076 .82 should fit the bill

I think your going in the right direction... might wanna tweak the AVCS maps to reach your goal... but in all in all, it should be a pretty sweet set-up.

When you say 4000rpm for a 30r, would that be on 5 speed wrx gearbox? How would that compare with the shorter ratio'd au/eu/jdm 2litre sti 6 speed gearbox?

on the garret, right?
so will I be on the safe side pushing pe1825 up to 1.8 bars with water injection on the stock EJ207 and 98RON? I believe you've mentioned somewhere that this turbo likes to be pushed hard

The older PE 1820 with the big RX compressor housing liked to be up around 1.5 to 1.6. The newer one and the one you are likely to have is out of steam around 1.4.

I had a swapped rs it was fun revving it high but it is really nice have a 2.5 beacause of emissions and obd2 also tuning is kinda a pain with the jdm swaps. I love having a usdm motor now.

anybody here know what bearing clearances subaru recommends for the v7 207. Should the crank diameter be the same as the same as a usdm 205?

my jdm ej207 had an easier time passing emissions than my usdm ej205. jdm swaps are no harder to tune than anything else.

I love my 207. I would never switch *back* to USDM EJ257 junk in my life. The 8500 RPM rev limit is orgasmic. It needs to be heard to be appreciated.

They came out of the JDM sti, people are nuts about the V7 and V8 motors. They're basically bulletproof.

I think the ADM 2002-2004 STi also had an EJ207.

he might be referring to the older phase I turbo motors and maybe earlier phase II ones like v5/6 ..not much tuning for them.

id go with a newer JDM swap if i was gonna do that stuff

usdm is good enough for most though.

Default future 207 hybrid plans

Ok first, I live in VA so I need a car that I can have tuned right here in VA. most of the tuners here use AP and not much else. So, I've been thinking of building a hybrid engine with a 207 block with Built (pnp'd with upgraded valves, springs, etc.) 257 heads. If I run 257 heads, I can then use the usdm sti ecu and run a 2.5L cobb AP, right?. In terms of the ECU, will that work? If I get a 207, I want to get the most out of the motor. I don't want to get stuck going with a usdm motor. The thought of a 8k+ redline is irresitable.

Why would you want to do that?

There are many on here that can help you with your tuning needs.

What would be interesting and I have not heard much there, the 2.5 short block, do you have the capabilities up to the same rev limit as the EJ207?

I have an ecutek tune on my 205. No one in Va can tune it. So when I get my AP I'll be getting one of Clark's maps sent to me. Cheaper than going to a tuner and sounds to be just as good .

In terms of the hybid build, the lower compression from the 257 heads would probably solve the problem of running the lower octane U.S. fuel, with built heads I should be able to keep the stock redline, and if the EM plan works then I could get a tune anywhere in the state.

Anyone, if this thought trail is off, let me know.

Sounds good. Clarke is well respected and very familiar with the JDM's.

Retuning even the stock EJ207 takes care of the gas requirements on low octane. No need for EJ257 heads.

We have even worst gas in the Caribbean
