Default So I brought my car in for state inspection...

And they are quoting me $843.35 JUST to get it on the road.

I got it inspected not 10 months ago and they told me everything was great and the brakes looked brand new.

Now, apparently I need rear pads and rotors, all four tires changed, and something else that I wasn't listening to since the total figure was booming in my head. I'm freaking furious. My car is hardly worth $1500!

WTF would OT do?

Do your own brakes. They cost about $100 to do and take about an hour.

Or, get a second opinion from another inspection site.

Move to a non-communist state.

WTF is a "state inspection"? Government sponsored terrorism?

take it somewhere else. they're obviously saying "hey look a chick, lets screw her out of her money, then bend her over her hood and pound her anus to sand!"

or just offer em BJ's for an inspection....

Do state inspections really help the situations on the road any?

I understand commerical trucks and what not, simply because of the liability issue and to make sure people arent cutting corners, but c'mon.

I think so, in a few ways, but it's still a racket.

For example - it makes sure your brake lights are working, your tires aren't bald and down to the belts, and other small things like that which could be causes of accidents, or dangerous.

But, overall, it's crap and just a giant way to make the state money. Like me having to pay property tax on a lease vehicle here in NC. Property tax on a car that I don't own!! Retarded.

Don't get me started on that whole mess...

<--- Doesn't understand how a vehicle can have sales tax to be payed by each owner, AND property tax while you own it... One or the other people, and sales tax should only be on the first purchase...

PM a picture of your titties (they don't have to be yours) to a few OTTers in your area and your car will be back on the road in a few hours.

It's a POS '97 Ford Taurus. I'd rather just get some decent used tires for cheap, because I KNOW they are overcharging me.
