Post SCCA #1 - Sunday, March 11th

The SCCA auto-x season is about to begin right on the heels of the slush series. First event is Sunday, March 11th at Emerald Downs. Details at NWR SCCA Solo Site. STS or DSP runs in the PM, GS in the AM and Novice at either time.

They are trying to crack down on people who stay in Novice for more than 3 events so please, if you ran the slush events and want to run SCCA pick a class and go run in it. You'll likely get hammered the first few events but you'll get to meet the people in the class and be in the real running for season points.

Tim

Have a Nice Day?

Too bad that's the week before everyones WRXs arrive (where's the emoticon for crossed fingers...)

Since SCCA and WWSCC series are separate, you can be an SCCA novice if you ran the WW Slush Sseries events.
So saddle up and ride!

True, WWSCC and SCCA are different series but if you plan to run SCCA all season you might consider moving into class so that you can get 6/8 or at least 5/8 events and be in the final standings. If you run the first 3 in Novice then you've about blown your chances at placing well in a class for the season.

Of course, if you are waiting for your WRX to run in GS then I'd run Novice once too.

I thought Street Tire was in the morning???

That's what class you guys run in right?

BTW with a larger sway bar, strut tower bars, and an intake that puts me into Street Tire doesn't it.

Eugene and I run in Street Touring/Street Tire (STS). There is also a generic Street Tire class that runs using PAX so you'd say you were GS or DSP but running street tire.

STS is an official SCCA class that was designed to bring in import tuners. The competition is several Integra GS-Rs, a Mazda MX-6, a few Jettas, an occasional Saturn, etc...

Oh...OK I was getting confused with the Street Tire part

So I would be running Street Touring/Street Tire, but I remember them asking for "index's". What does that mean?

Ryan, the index is only for the WWSCC events. They have that because like Tim said, they have a generic street tire class. They put S4's and turbo DSM's in with us and that isn't fair for us because we are not as fast. So you have to put down an index for the class you run in SCCA. (I think)

But for the SCCA events you wont have an index and yes the mods you did will put you in STS. Its a fun class! But watch out for the MX6, Dan is fast!

It's strange, when I mentioned to the person I was working the course with at slush 3 that this would be my last novice event (1 last year, 2 this year), he thought that you could stay in Novice the entire season and the last season didn't count.

So what classes do people ususally run with the common mods people make? Street Touring in SCCA and ??? in WWSCC?

Thats ok, its really stupid if you ask me. I don't know why the different clubs don't run the same classes as SCCA. The Bremerton club puts me in with turbo DSM's and S4's with race tires! Not fair but what do you expect from people that live out in the Bremerton area.

I don't believe anyone did ask you Akiata...
It's not stupid, it's just the way things are.

I will bite any hand that feeds me. The way they class cars IS stupid. If people complain about how things are they may change them.
