Ok where to begin... well the last week or so I noticed my car's idle dropping below 500rpms after pushing in the clutch and descending to a stop. And sometimes during start up. So I talked to a friend about what my cars doing, and he menchened cleaning the IACV. So I did a search on Nasioc about cleaning the IACV and found that I need the new gasket before taking apart because the old one my not be reuseable. So I have a new gasket on order... I hope thats the fix to the problem??? In the mean time I decided to change my plugs sence I have alittle over 40k on mine. So I went with the Denso IK-22 sence I running Vishnu's stage1, to replace my NGK BKR7EVX's with are no longer made. While doing the install I had a llttle mishap installing one of the plugs. Come to find out I think I burgered up the begging thread on one of the new Denso's. So I tried to thread it into the block, an it went hard all the way. So I was stressing out at this point, thinking I cross threaded the plug, so I backed it out an installed my old NGK BKR7EVX to see if it messed up the threads and it hapened to go in pretty smoothly. So second question is will it be ok to run three Denso's IK-22 and one NGK BKR7EVX untill I order a new Denso??? After all that.... it seems to be idleing alittle ruffer now, almost like its missing...??? Maybe I screwed something else up?

Last time I had that problem was when I had an intake leak. My turbo inlet hose had become very worn from the worm clamp and when I'd come to a stop the idle would fall hard and sometimes stall.
I replaced it [with a Samco inlet] and problem solved. Maybe check for leaks. |

mmmm... interesting I'll take that into consideration. I do have an STI top mount intercooler, with red hose and it always has been a tight fit. But if the inlet hose was lose or worn wouldn't I hear the a louder than normal turbo sound at full boost from this leaky hose?

Regardless. If your idle is dropping like that, checking your intake hoses should be something to take into consideration. |

WOW I totally have this same problem with my idles so I checked the intake charge pipe to the turbo inlet and sure enough my hose looks like it's been through quite a bit. I'm going to fix/change it and get back to this thread

any other takes on the idle drop/rough idle, and what about running three Denso's and one NGK? Will this be ok untill I can order a new one?

if you have an bov or intake it will cause that idling problem too. if you do, i think that is telling you something.

no.. BOV or intake. So it has to be something else??? It only seems to idle ruff on start-up, and seems to get better as the car warms up? But the drop in RPMs when shifting to netural while descending is still there, could bad gas cause this? Any other takes on this...

mine has been doing the same lately as well. when the car is moving it drives fine but at a stop the idle will bounce all over and nearly stall. this used to happen just when the a/c was on but now it is doing it almost all the time...

see if your hose clamp at the turbo and inlet hose is tight. if it isn't then you could have a leak there from it tearing on the underside. or it could just be loose.
