Default Help! I got a CEL tonight - 05 STI

Was driving home and all of a sudden had a slight fuel cut going around a right hand turn at farely high G (it was an on ramp). Had 3/8 of a tank left.

The check engine light came on and stayed on, and the cruise control light started flashing. I did remove the cruise control (from the steering wheel only - have not got around to removing the control box or anything associated with it) a few weeks ago, but the light has never come on.

I tried resetting the ECU by disconnecting the -ve battery terminal and reconnecting... nothing.

Car drives just like normal though... no loss of power or anything.

I have an ECUTEK stage 1 from the previous owner of the car from Rocket Rally... I remember reading something in the manual for the tune about keeping the check engine light off... so maybe the computer has somehow reset itself to "stock" and that is why the cruise light is now showing as well?

Hmmm... please help!

It went away!

I went back to the car about 3 hours later, didn't even reset the ecu... and both the CEL and cruise light went off. Car runs just like normal. I SUSPECT it has something to do with the COBB crank pulley. When I had a WRX with a lightened flywheel, it sometimes threw a code. I suspect that the lighter crank pulley has a similar affect and that there is nothing wrong with the car.

Best to make sure by going to the dealership and having them pull any codes that are in the memory...might be an issue that you can deal with right away.
