Default Anyone Experience the Winter Mileage Drop Yet?

Just wondering if any of you cold-staters have experienced the 10-15% or better drop in mileage due to oxygenated gas being sold in the winter months.

Thumbs down

Yeah, I might have. I just thought it was my heavy foot on that last tank of gas.
I didn't really drive that aggressive to warrant the milage I got though so winter gas is probably at the pumps already.

I don't know if my city mileage can get much worse.. I only get about 18-20mpg driving with a heavy right foot usually at about 45-50mph or less..

I did notice the water temp go up a bit on the fill-up before last, but that was probbly just the temp changes outside.. now the car reads normal..

Hehe...yeah, I thought the bad mileage was due to me doing only WOT runs. Oh wait, it is!!!

Sorry, can't really help you out. I haven't driven my car normally for a couple weeks now. Everytime I take it out, I've been trying to tune it. And let me tell ya...200 miles to the tank sucks!!

Holy crap, that's track-day mileage. If you're really running that rich, your whole back end must be covered in soot!?

*Hmmm, how did my response to KhaOS get inserted before his original post???? Is there something wrong with the server?

My worst tank yet was 145 miles in 14 gallons.

I think I might've thrown my car into a permanent-run-ultra-rich mode at some point... mayhaps I should reset my ECU.

Get an AFC and an ITC and tune the car? Actually if you check the manual it has a part of shifting points, if you follow those to the point of nauseum gas mileage goes up a lot..

So you have to fill up more eh? At least gas prices are down to a decent level. I haven't noticed, but I usually fill up somewhere around a 1/4 tank left.... so never really did the math. I will keep an eye out for it though.

KC,

You can still calculate your mileage even if you don't go to empty. As long as you know your mileage and the gallons you put in right?

Yep. But have I done that? Nope.

Fill tank.. go on merry way until I feel I need more gas.

Haven't been watching at all, but I will now.

--Which brings up a point... what if everyone starts reporting to their dealer, that with no pounding or sprited driving, they're getting under 20 mpg? What are they going to do? It's SUPPOSED to be much higher than that according to the advertising.

OK, here is what I think oxygenated gas is...they pump air in with your gas so that you don't get as much gas as you should?? I'm probably wrong though.

ROFL.... close Pete.. but not exactly. Picture oxygenated gas the same way you'd picture carbonated soda. Make better sense??
