Default Subaru WRX Spec R1

What the heck is this?.....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subar...28011568QQrdZ1

Is this thing for real???
I have never heard of the "Spec R1" and I'm wondering if this guy is going to scam some nOOb... Or maybe I'm the nOOb for not knowing this edition exists?

Ok so I'm bored at work so I decided to give the guy a call and see whats up, believe it or not he was awake.

Apparently, the "spec R1," is a Canadian model that was sold with a few upgrades. Including the rims, foglight covers, short shifter and a few other things. Wether this is a dealership special or a Subaru of Canada special remains to be seen.

I don't think this guy is a scammer from the short talk we had, he sounded like he just thinks it is more special than it really is.

LOL, wow D Fresh that's awesome!!
Way to put your boredom to good use!

I'm still up too, researching a ton of alignment information for today's pro-alignment session. I'm going to be seeing camber, toe, and castor adjustments in my head for awhile after tonight...

anything 'spec' just sounds ****ing annoying, plus most of the time a scam.

It was a Subaru Canada special

The rims are nice (BBS RK?) but otherwise nothing too special except the ''special'' color - and not much rarer than the Sedona Red at least in these parts

I saw someone autocrossing a spec R1 at the Canadian Autoslalom Championships...I was wondering what was so special about the car.

they were subaru of canada specials and it was the only way could buy a yellow wrx in canada. they were limited to 120 units and had individual number plates on the dash.
basically it was like 5k more for a yellow wrx that came with two sets of wheels and a few other extras and had a sperc r1 badge on the trunk and a number plate on the dash

Lol, seriously.
I just got back from getting a pro-alignment and just checked the auction again. I'm curious to see how much this guy makes off the car.

^^That appears to be a lai hanging from the rearview. The seller is from Alaska, so I'm sure that if he's been to Hawaii he wants to remember it often.

I'm curious to see the different MOMO added trim. All I can see from the pic is the OEM MOMO/Subaru shift knob.

thats correct....the only differences between this one and the regular wrx were all cosmetic....and they arent that rare.....theres a couple of them where I live. They could have used a nicer yellow for them as well......its a little to mustardy colored for my taste

I have a spec R1 there were only 125 of them and I have the last one. Nothing different with the other wrx except for color, come with bbs and stock rims, spec r1 badges and floor mats and like the other guy sais a short shifter

Actually we've calculated bout 5k worth of options at full retail for 3K more on the sticker price of the car. So it was somewhat of a deal if you liked the color, exclusivity and the options package (and there are a few more options in that package than what was listed here so far).

Quote:
+ 17" X 7" BBS RK Alloy Wheels with BBS valve stem
+ Subaru Anti-theft wheel locks
+ P215/45 Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position Ultra High Performance Tires (Z Rated)
+ Genuine Subaru Anti-Theft System
+ 4 Subaru Premium Grade Audio System Speakers
+ Momo Air Race Leather Aluminum Shift knob
+ Clear polycarbonate fog light protectors
+ Spec R1 Owners manual wallet in yellow and black of course!
+ Spec R1 floor mats
+ Exterior trunk lid badge
+ Interior serial number badge, from 1 to 125 only.
