Called it!

That was a lot of fun today. I wish the weather at the beginning of the event had been like the weather at the end, as it was just about perfect conditions by the time we were running the Challenge. It might be blasphemy for a Subaru driver to say it, but I hate auto-xing in the rain. I think this was maybe the 4th event I've done in the wet (in 7 years of auto-xing), so I'm not really comfortable with how the car handles at the limit in the wet stuff. And, more importantly, I just hate having to work on the car in the rain, cover everything to try (in vain) to keep it dry, blah blah blah.

Anyway, enough bitching. Many thanks to the SCCA and Subaru regional organizers/workers for sponsoring the event, setting it up, working registration and tech, and everything else that goes along with an event like this. Very cool of them to do so. Many thanks to Annapolis Subaru for the goodies and sponsorship, too.

Thanks!
Maybe if I feel confident that the car won't kill anyone next time, you can drive it =)

I took over 1400 photos between last night at the hotel and the event today.

They are copying off the camera now.

I expect over 75% will be keepers, so I'll see if I can get them up in the next 24 hours.

Had fun with you guys this weekend. My bf had a good time too and didn't finish that far behind.

Pat- Mike just LOVED your comment about getting beaten by a girl . . .

Dave- I tried coming up to you by your car earlier to say hi but you were talking to your friend and were putting your camera away so I think you were kinda pre-occupied. I tried saying hi but you were busy lol . . .

Thanks to everyone that helped put the event out. It was a blast. Glad I had the chance to go after Atlanta ended up being cancelled. Hope to see you all next year for another subaru challenge!

That was fun. Well, the autocrossing-for-real part sucked. I took a gamble putting the shaved FK451's on there, not knowing if it was going to actually dry up, and not knowing how they are in the rain. They're not awful, but nowhere near as good as almost-full-tread RE070's. Sorry Andy (codriver)!

Finished 3rd in STX but didn't make the Challenge. Boo urns.

I knew I wasn't crazy! I would have liked to see it expanded to 32 since things were on time, but I'm obviously quite biased

I was really really hoping to get 2 more dry runs in, but ended up getting them as fun runs instead. I was on the 070's with street pressures (34/31) and ran a 47.9, then a 46.7. So, for me, that redeemed what was otherwise a mildly frustrating rain experience. (Patrick I totally agree, I would absolutely rather run in the dry, any day of the week)

And then Greg hopped in my car and ran a 45.2. He's fast

Thanks to the WDCR Committee folks for putting this on, and thanks to Subaru for continuing the event. Good times.

If I'm the Pat you're referring to, I'm afraid I can't take credit for that comment. I wasn't commentating at that point, but I do remember hearing it over the loudspeakers and got a good chuckle out of it.

That looks almost as bad as the Subie Challenge in 2004 when we had Hurricane Ivan blow through with torrential downpours. The standing water on the course was out of control and the rooster tails were taller than the car. You guys truly had it ugly of the day's run groups. Great pic, though!

That was an awesome event!! Even with running in the rain 1st heat, I had a blast. Kudos to all the folks who put in there time and energy like WDCR-SCCA, SOA, SPT, Annapolis Subaru, and everyone else.

That course was friggin' awesome, thanks Greg and Steve!

For what it's worth.....

Team WTF?! (www.teamWTF.org) photographer, Alex Teitelbaum, was out today taking pictures. As Studio 553's Eric Kriemelmeyer (http://studio553.ifp3.com/iphoto/main2.cfm) was out with his DSP Subaru today, I would expect that pics will be posted to Team WTF?!'s site. They aren't posted yet, but I'll keep you informed of when they are.

Prints of photos from Team WTF?! may be purchased through Studio553. Just select the event, add the photos you want printed to the lightbox and purchase.

Also, I would expect the results to be posted to www.subaruchallenge.com, if not also on NASIOC (though I'm not sure about the latter). We are not in control of the posting, so I can't tell you when it'll be done.

Hope that helps.

Evanthe and Steve-

GREAT job by WDCR once again. Dealing with the timing situation in the morning, an hour-long lunch break and yet you still managed to get us finished up early! It is people like you that make these events SO enjoyable. Thanks for the comraderie and thank you Subaru for your hospitality. Lots of great competitors joined our little playground today. I'm always humbled by the skill I see on course and the friendliness in the paddock. BRAVO!

Okay, I'll start by saying thanks to Acquacow for the codrive!

Unfortunately SM as first heat got waterlogged off the course. Second and third were just wet, and 4th got dry runs. A difference of about 6+ seconds roughly. Nice course, ride alongs in the dry were awesome! Well there's next year.

Great event. Everyone there was there to have a good time and it showed. I cant wait to see some of the pictures people took. I was luck enough to run in the dry during the 4 Heat but there were some nice drifts in the earlier (wet) heats.

Dave Mac it was nice to finally meet and talk with you after racing so many events with you. Also big ups to everyone else in STU.
Also big thanks to Myles and the whole Racecomp/GTWorx crew for the free shirt....Myles, you can stand in my trunk anytime!

Good job Steve! It was fun as hell, even with the damn rain we had in heat 1. I wish we could've mingled a bit more during our heat, but the rain kept most of us in our cars (Sometimes the co-drivers too).

I gotta say as a Subie outsider (and evo owner) this event was really great. It's always fun getting tons of freebies and autoxing at a nice site. Course was fun and most definitely rewarded looking ahead. WDCR did a great job as usual and the event sponsors all seemed to have a good time as well. Also very cool was to see the guy from Subaru (SPT) with the car on display and he knows what he's talking about!

I gotta give a big thanks to Dan Cheung (ghostshadow) for letting me drive the STi in STU and take home a win, gotta love the 2.5 liter. It's too bad he broke the damn strano bar on his 1st run for the 3rd (or 4th time?), I think it's time to try the Whiteline bar Dan!

Hopefully he'll invite me back next year and we can give Mr. Carris a real run for his money.

Yeah. The Salisbury's and the rest of the WDCR crew did a great job running the event. Subaru proved they certainly love their enthuiasts and they listen to us in regards to the SPT parts development. The Annapolis Subaru peeps were very cool and knowledgeable. Thanks Car vs Driver (Dave Carey) for the co-drive in your Subie, hopefully you'll let me back in the car at some future events. It was great to get to know some more of my fellow Subieheads and autocross addicts . I'll also say that it was nice to meet Myles Williams and his son, VERY good people! I'd look for Myles son to be a realy kick-ass pro driver in the future. Maybe even an F1 driver See you locals at the next event.

It was the other redhead Pat driving a tan (platinum? old man gold? just what the hell color is this?) Subaru on race tires who made the comment.
