Default 05 STI - turbo outlet to IC hose mucked up!

I think I either mucked up the hose or the clamp, not sure. I've removed and replaced the IC 3 times now... just to work on various parts of the car (downpipe install, WG port, TB coolant bypass, etc.). The first time I installed the IC, it was a real bitch getting that red hose onto the turbo... the one with the metal elbow in it (I think it's there so u can use a prybar to help u get it on the turbo). Anyways, the 2nd and 3rd time were easier. I just spray a bit of WD-40 on the contact surfaces so it "wiggles" on there easier.

I think with all the re and re and tightening of the clamp, I have managed to muck up the hose and/or clamp a bit. For some reason, when I tighten the clamp, it doesn't want to stay put. There is a metal tab with a hole in it where u can "screw" the bolt for the clamp so that part stays in place. However, as I get tighter, the rest of the clamp starts "making it's way to the passenger side" and off the hose... I have tried over and over, and finally got it to sort of "stay" where it's supposed to, but then after driving for a bit, it manages to work it's way to the passenger side and I get a leak that I can hear.

I'm gonna try double clamping it until I can get a new hose or clamp... anybody else experience this? Hopefully the hose from Subaru won't be that expensive, but I have a bad feeling they are gonna rape me . hehehe

Shouldn't be expensive at all, I've got random little odds and ends from dealerships here before and they cost so little that they just gave most of them to me for free...

and regarding your second concern, simply refrain from going to the dealership when Dalton is around.

I took off the IC to have a closer look... what happened is that I tightened the worm gear clamp on the "raised lip" of the hose near the edge and it flattened it!!! So now even if I have the screw in the "stay", that part stays put but portions of the clamp where the "lip" was flattened creeps towards the edge, making it impossible to tighten properly. I will have to replace the hose... the good news is that I'm now an expert and removing and replacing the intercooler LOL... For the time being, I used a zip tie beside the worm gear clamp and it's working fine... the zip tie is essentially acting as a 2nd clamp... and I'm not getting any leaks now (for those of you who have done the same thing or want to know if you did the same thing in the future, the noise is VERY audible... under cruise it will sound ok, but get on the gas and boost and you will literally hear the air leaking out that hose instead of being forced into your intercooler and throttle body... and of course a lack of power ).
