Default '02 Forester S stumbles/hesitates

I have 59,000 miles on my Forester. It started out as a slight hesitation when the car was cold and now it is more severe. It seems to be only in the low RPM range under 2000 rpm's and mostly when starting off from a stop.Runs good on the highway. When I step on the gas the car sputters and hesitates and if I pump the pedal a bit it seems to help. Also the idle seems a bit rough almost like a miss so that the engine shakes a little. I tried treating the gas, changed the air filter, plugs, wires, fuel filter and PCV valve and still no luck.I am not getting a check engine light.I am taking it to my local mechanic this week because I need an inspection done.Any ideas as to what could be the problem.Thanks.

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Have you checked every hose for leaks/connections?

All hoses appear to be in good condition and connected.

That sounds similar to the problem in my 96 legacy. The old owner thinks it's the injectors, but I'm no sure about that.

In regards to my original post. I changed plug, wires,PCV valve and coil and still ran bad.First private mechanic changed the Idle air control valve but still no improvement so he put the old one back on and said he felt it was a tranny problem. I took it to a Subaru dealer and they changed both o2 sensors and reprogramed the ECU and it is running fine so far. Thanks for the input.
