Too bad Sean. Sorry to hear that. I used to own a v6 accord with full sus mods, and engine mods that had it at 190hp at the wheels.

This was all before I was rear ended and rolled on I-80 at highway speed. Totaled!!

It has been so difficult to start over again with another car and not as much 'mulah' Anyways..........
Sorry to hear your having to give it up.

What sucks even more is that if you were to want to buy this car at his asking price of $26,500 there isn't a bank around that would finance it that high over stock price and the insurance companys won't cover anything aftermarket, such as the turbo, whithout first buying one huge premium every six months! Bad rap all the way around.

Sorry man, wish you luck...

I don't want to part out the car, otherwise I would consider this option.

Are you going to be at the autocross this weekend? If I have some time, I might stop by and meet some people...hope to see you there!

Sean...

As far as replacement cars go...IVe had two Toyota Celica Turbo All Tracs and one Mitsu Galant VR4 turbo awd sedan. The mitsu was fun because it had 240hp four doors and was an absolute sleeper. The downside was maintenance...it was truly a Japanese Jaguar. The Celicas were awesome as well...id recommend scouting out a 90-93 all trac in autotrader. These were limited production 200hp awd hatchbacks.

Any of the three of these cars....the Galant VR4, 88-89 Celicas and 90-93 Celicas can be had for less than 10k...the trick is finding one of course

Any advice i can offer is promised

Thanks, Mike! I'm off to check out those Celicas right now. How reliable are they? What motor do they use? Is it the 3S-GTE? Thanks again!

I would love to go to the auto cross, however, I am in the middle of negotiations with Vavara at Carr Subaru for a MY01, if all goes well, I'll probably be spending all of saturday sitting in a little room signing ownership papers.

Next time.

I'll pass your information around U of O campus down here for you though, lots of kids with money down here, and school is about to start.

All Tracs use the 3SGTE engine running about 8 lbs of boost. The engine is very reliable given frequent oil changes. I bought a 90 all trac with 120000 miles on it for 7000 a few years back and it was still running the original turbo at 156000 miles when my gf totalled it (another story). The 90-93 all tracs are more reliable than the 88-89 because they got the bugs out and the engine runs cooler do to better air flow in the engine bay. The engine is actually made by Yamaha. PArts original and aftermarket are very rare to find....its great to have contacts overseas for those. The best webpage around for All Tracs is www.allwheelmotion.com by far

If i was to buy another, aside from making sure it had never been hit, i would run it at idle for 30 minutes then stomp on the gas, any smoke coming out is what the car is burning for oil = $2-3000 ring job at least

Also, the clutch and alternator and radiator/cooling sys go around 100000 miles or so. The clutch and alternator are 700-1000 dollar replacements. Also check for wheel bearings....they go around the same time.

The 90-93 all tracs came also with an awesome sound system...ten speakers including two 8 inch subs in the doors....incredible

Red is the most common color followed by white...teal green is the rarest.

They run 15 inch wheels and 205 55 15 tires.

The leather in the cars is weak...especially on the driver side bolster.

There are a few for sale in the collector section ofthe autotrader.com...bens rally page is good to as is checking the auto classifieds of major metropolitan areas online.

Thats all i can think of for now...feel free to ask me about a particular car you are looking at

Can you tell i miss mine?

I know you put alot of effort into it, but would you want to keep it without the mods? You have all of the origanol equipment right, try selling off all your parts. You dont want to start from beyond square one again do you?

Mike-

Wow, thanks for all the info. Can you name some key advantages of getting an All Trac over an MR2 turbo? Thanks!

The big one is traction and space. My gf spun out her turbo mr2 twice...different girlfriend btw...now i ask for a copy of their driving record

Some mr2's have a LSD...92 and newer......and that fixed somewhat the prblem of 200hp out the back wheels. Both cars have the same engine as im sure you know.

The AllTrac adds the functionality of a full size spare, all wheel drive, hatchback, flip down seats and just plain having rear seats. Btw i forgot to mention that the paint on these cars is excellent and durable.

A great board for used mr2's and Celicas as well as parts is www.thepartstrader.com

Off to Ikea
