Default Ever heard a PPG set? Here it is.

When I first ripped the teeth out of my gears and looked into a PPG set, I wondered what it sounds like before I bought it. Andrew took me for a quick ride and the next day mine sounded the same. Ever since then people keep asking me the same thing about how my tranny sounds now so I thought I'd post this up real quick. 1/2 straight cut, 3/4 helical, stock 5th.

This one is just 1 & 2nd http://videos.streetfire.net/video/9...3e00dffbf0.htm

This one is 3rd - 5th. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/f...400124582d.htm

Its not even close to THAT loud. A typical after market exhaust is defintely louder.

they are a lot louder from outside the car. drive through an alley or next to something for the sound to reflect off of. the gears will be louder than most exhaust.

It's a bit hard to hear with the stereo playing in the background.

Yeah. Get us a video minus the music and a video next to a divider on the highway without the wind noise. I'm going to be getting these gears sooner than later so be looking for me Andrew.

Man....and I thought my PPG helical sounded loud....

Sorry don't have a camcorder, but yes like cynix said, it's like the 3rd gear...noise is somewhere between stock on the decel and the straight 1-2. It actually gets quieter the higher rpm you go

Not at all! Its an intoxicating noise. I have 1-2 straight cut 3-4 helical, if I were to do it again I would do all straight!

I did all straight, and its a daily driver, its a sick sound that I will love forever. Its great when you down shift into first and roll up next to mustangs and they look at you with the "oh ****" face, and than try to rev thier engine, like they actually might have a chance.

64 Bit linux doesn't have a port for Macromedia flash yet. >_< Can't see videos...

I know you can have a dog style engagement mechanism for 1-2 and/or 3-4 gears, could I just have gears 1-2 and 5 as dog engagement, and 3-4 normal syncros? I'm sick of the syncros on first and fifth going out constantly. I'm not a ramming shifter by any means, but first and fifth have died on me again... They got replaced at 58k under warrenty and less than 30k later, they're going out again.

Way to beat on the car while it's still cold... I don't understand how you all like that noise, I'd have to take tylenol every time before I get in the car.

thanks for posting vids! the music did take away from hearing the gears, but it was good to hear. I am probably buyin a dogbox 1-4 straight cut within the next few months. my sti isnt my daily driver so the crazy sound wont get on my nerves too much.

does anyone have more vids they will post of straight cut gears? thanks!

At the moment I don't believe PPG makes a dog engagement gear for the 5th gear in the 5psd. You can definitely run a 1-2 dog and 3-4-5 synchro.
