Hi everyone. As mentioned in previous threads. Our original track day date has been moved. New date is confirmed and booked. Will not be changing. All other details remain unchanged.

DATE: Wednesday, September 20, 2006 CONFIRMED
TIME: 8:30am - 4:30pm
PLACE: Mission Park Raceway
COST: $245, or $250 with lunch.

DETAILS: Morning classroom session, followed by practical exercises (braking, steering, vision, cornering). Lapping begins at around 10:30am if everything is on schedule. Lunch around noon. Lapping continues until 4:30. Instructors available to guide you or demonstrate throughout the day. Passing for intermediate+ drivers in designated zones (probably 2 zones). Limited to 2 groups of 12 (24 total), lots of room to drive.

OTHER INFO: Those who have registered previously, I am emailing you payment details tonight. Those who haven't, email yes.sir@shaw.ca to be put on the list. I need:
-FULL name,
-phone number,
-email address,
-vehicle(model and year), and
-a few words about previous track experience.

AUGUST 21 UPDATE: We are less than a month away! Let the countdown begin! Reminder to those who haven't paid: payment deadline to remain registered is August 25 - this Friday! Still, for anyone who wants to really test their skill and vehicle, this is a great way to do it. It's cost effective too.

It's a shame you guys can't make it out. I'm surprised I haven't seen hypa at a track day!

I think this one especially is good value. Sure, Mission is a tight track and not as glamorous as PIR, but for under $250, you're only running with 12 cars, and you get instructor guidance if you like. Also, it's not a 3.5 hour drive there. Getting to PIR at 7:30 for tech for 75+ cars, means a 4am wake up.

if you are refering to portland international raceway, you can't get there in 3.5 hours..

anywayz.. when is the deadline to sign up? i need to check my schedule..

That's true. I was thinking Pacific Raceway. PIR is an overnighter for sure!

There is no 'deadline', but first come, first served! The guys who signed on to the original date get some priority, so I've given them 2 weeks to get their money in. But there are some spots left even now. Put those CEs to good use!!

Subaru says that you have to be nice to your car for at least 1000km.
Isn't it funny how at exactly 1000km, the motor is broken in?


This one's getting broken in just like the rest of my cars. There's something to be said once they hit 100,000 km and still have great compression across the board.

Just looking at the Inside Line program on September 18 ... I think our NASIOC day is a MUCH better value. $10-15 cheaper, and less than half the number of cars (they're trying to fit 55!), which should translate into either a much less crowded track, or twice the track time.

Moreover, they are asking people to arrive at 7:30 for tech inspection. The tech portion that we do is quick (less people to inspect), and is generally done by the professionals while we are in the seminar. So, we get to wake up an hour later!

Just being cautious, is there anything that I need to be aware of in terms of insurance or ICBC in general? On the flip side I can see them being supportive of drivers taking advanced lessons.

Also, I don't suppose Subaru Canada is going to deny any warranty work after participating on a track day will they?

Not too late. On Friday, I will be posting this on other sites ... including BMW and Porsche, where there are huge track addicts. Last year, the remaining spots were filled within a few days of posting on those sites.

So, NASIOC guys, email me ASAP, I'll send you payment details, and you've got till Friday to get payment in. After that, I'm afraid it will be first come, first served.

My worst nightmare is to end up with empty spots: less people to enjoy the day with, and I've got to pay $250 for each spot I don't fill!

Also, would I be able to spectate when you're all on the track/course? I'd like to see what it's like for a bit to determine whether I'd sign up next time.

i just realized that this track day is 2 days prior to the PDC one.. hmmm.. debating if i should go to both..

You've got to come out to the Subaru one at least = ). I'll leave it up to you whether you want to join PDC. haha.

Actually, I'm tempted to do both too. With PDC, there's a lot of cars. Getting one session every 2 hours means a lot of waiting around time. That's the only down side. They seem very organized about their course though.

There are some great bleachers with a great view of a large section of the track. I went out there today to check out a sports car road race and get a view of the track. It's going to be a blast!!
